    Hello Tacoma community,

I have bought myself a 2017 Tacoma sr5 not to long ago and I'm obsessed with it. Here's what I've been I've been stuck on for the past acouple weeks. I've went to the Toyota dealership that I bought the truck from asking if getting my truck undercoated would void my warranty. I wanted to get answers from at least four different people that worked there and I ended up with two yes's and two no's. So I was wondering if anyone ran into this same issue and/or could help me out! Thanks for your time!

Void what warranty? And undercoated with what? If you just get it sprayed with an oil then no it won't void anything. If you get it sprayed with a heavier tar like substance then I dont know.

Just get it fluid filmed regularly, then no issues with warranty and probably way bettter than undercoating.

They were saying it could void the warranty on the frame but I got a 50/50 answer that it would or wouldn't. They said they have been using a new product that they have been using that is like a tar but drys like a soft plastic almost like flex seal.

Your dealer didn't try to sell you a undercoating package?

I wouldnt bother with that stuff. Over time it is going to let rust develop but you wont be able to see it. Better to apply an oil every year that you can touch up and more readily see if it is doing its job.

No the only thing that they tried to sell me with the truck is mud flaps, bug deflector and rain guards. All in which I could find online for better quality and cheaper price.

    dealers cannot just void warranties.

they can refuse to do warranty work if they reasonably believe your modifications caused the issue.......IE. you put on an aftermarket air filter, the filter fails and gets sucked into the engine.

but they cant say "oh you put on an aftermarket air filter so were not going to warranty the rust on the frame.

i use FluidFilm every year, havent seen any rust yet after a few new england winters.
