Hey guys, I came to this site to look up recommendations for modding my Taco. Currently I have only bought a soft tonneau cover, but now i'm looking at 3" hub spacers, new wheels and tires. We will see what happens after that. I've taken my truck off-road a few times (Honestly I'm use to driving an 8 wheeled LAV-III), but i've come across too many trails so far that I don't feel comfortable doing down with my OEM 265/65R17 Dueler H/Ts and no winch.

Hopefully i'll get some inspiration on here and have a Taco Beef Supreme in no time.

    1st Welcome :)

2nd... 3 inch HubCentric Spacers!?!?! Holy cow why?!?! your wheels will stick out pretty far. I hope you mean the spacer lift. Which at that point spend the extra $50 and go Bilstein lift.

    3rd. Enjoy :)

Thats right metrick1215, I mean 3" hub spacers lol. The reason is to get a wider stance (besides LCF, look cool factor) is so i can get a bigger tire on than a 265/70R16. I want to keep with the 16" rim, but go with a 285/75.

Edit: Am i being autistic to say this? lol

well... My idea was to put 3" hub spacers on to give room for the 285/75R16 tires, I seen this as a cheaper alternative (for the time being) than getting a lift kit right away. And I would like a wider stance on the truck. I'm not very experienced in the matter so i'm not sure if this is viable or will even work... hence i'm asking on here. What do you guys think?

I would say its a bad idea.

You will be replacing bearings and other suspension parts often, there was someone on here that went with 3 inch and he had been changing hubs 2 times a year. if you are wanting to go offroad you will be putting a major strain on your axles and bearings.

Better to do it right the first time and not over and over

i would do a true lift, get an offset wheel and get a wider tire to achieve what you are wanting.

Entirely, you do not need to go wider to house bigger tires... you need to go up to house bigger tires. If you want to fit 285s youll need at least 3 inches, going wider will not increase the fitment of bigger tires. The only reason spacers are ever a good idea is if you have a suspension lift and when your car is flexing your tire rubs against the shock or the UCA. Other than that spacers cause a hell of a lot more problems then it is worth.

    Lotsa shit.
Yeah don't do spacers on the wheels. Such a waste of money, only do like 1" spidertrax or some other good ones if it is absolutely necessary. Also, welcome!
