So, whilst looking for an A/C sticker under my hood (which I didn't find???), the only one I found was for "tune up" info. It specifies intake and exhaust valve clearances and says "no other adjustments" necessary. Does anyone here ever check or adjust the valves on their 1GR-FE? Are we supposed to? At what mileage?

    Yes.
Its in the maintenance section of the owners manual. Forget the mileage interval.

Not sure how common it is within this community.

Edit: Additional reading from a different thread.

I just found another thread that lists the entire recommended maintenance schedule and it said to do this every 60,000 miles. Interesting. I have never adjusted valves on a modern vehicle except when replacing a cam or head gaskets. And I don't recall any discussion of this in my entire time on TW.

Most people never check/adjust them on Tacoma's due to the amount of work involved as the cams must be removed to change the shims if the require adjustment.
I haven't seen where anyone has had any problems from not checking them, most Tacoma engines seem to go well over 200k and never get adjusted.

Most other engines have hydraulic buckets/lifters and never need adjusting as the lifter takes up the slack but many of the older Toyota engines had solid buckets that were supposed to be checked/adjusted although it seems it was rarely done exept on a rebuild or headgasket job.

No, I never have checked or adjusted mine.
I have no plans to ever do so either.
I’ll wait until I get a crank/cam correlation code and “think” about it then.
Because you’ll 75% of the way there doing a timing job.

So, basically the cams and valvetrain are set up kind of like a DOHC motorcycle. Got to pull the cams and swap shims... or lifters in this case? Uggghh. My Triumph bike is also due for this work, but I haven't done that one either. That was supposedly due at 12,000 miles.
