I have a 97 Tacoma 2.7L. The issue first started as my 10amp gauge fuse kept blowing. I next realized that when the fuse blows the alternator also stops charging the battery. I originally figured it was a voltage regulator/ alternator issue causing the trouble so I replaced the alternator and soon as a backed the truck out of the barn it blew the gauge fuse again and the new alternator quit working? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

replace your trailer wiring harness, when they go out they short things out when you hit the brakes.

Back up lights can do the same thing.

You put it in reverse and the fuse opened .

Might want to check for a shorted switch or wires rubbed through.
