I recently installed a Volant CAI/w scoop and Flowmaster dual exhaust. Other than sound performance was minimal. Yesterday i installed the Unichip mapped for my mods. Came with 2 maps (less aggressive timing) and more aggressive timing for higher octane fuel.

The results are impressive. Both provide enhanced acceleration and overall quickness. The more aggressive map is ideal for me and provides almost a sporty feel driving experience.

So far so good and i would do it again.

Didn't I hear that Unichips are crap or hard to tune since there's very little tuners who specialize in tuning the Unichips for the Tacoma?

Has it help your mpg when driving conservative?plug and play right?i read that the dealer should not be able to tell that anything was plugged into the ecu..as I still have another 50k warranty left and I'm am considering the unichip(if it's plug and play..yes I read it was but im just double checking before I pull the trigger!)

Keep us informed about your experience.

It's a path i will maybe follow. Tired to wait about the UCON. I'm looking to buy it with the tuner kit so i can tune it myself. There is a tuner here that i will use for the timing map on the dyno but i will take care of the fuel map and other possibilitie offered by this system (like adding a 7th injector or modifying the AFR signal in close loop).

How does the 'less aggressive' 'provide enhanced acceleration and overall quickness'?

Do you mean it's more aggressive than OE, but the lesser aggressive of the two maps, retaining the ability to use regular fuel?

Doesn't the knock sensor auto-retard the more aggressive map? I'm sure the premium fuel helps protect the point knock appears, but still???

I should get this. I have my CEL on my truck from the so called knock sensors being bad (which was replaced and did nothing). Tired of look at that CEL, for $500 it will be worth it.

So there's no solution to this besides paying another grand on wiring just to fix this one code.

Did the kit come with a little remote to change which map you want to run? or did you have to buy the flux? Im looking into buying the Unichip PNP kit.
