So I've had a hum from the front right that has progressively gotten worse over the last few weeks. It is only when in motion.
It stops when taking a hard left.
Thought it was a CV Joint. Replaced CV assembly, not the solution.

My next guess is the bearing. Any leads are greatly appreciated

Sounds like a wheel bearing to me. Jack up each front wheel and rotate it and tug on the wheel. You'll hear it and feel it if it is.

So I jacked up the driver side and the wheel was tight. (Caliper is partial issue.) Took the caliper off and spun the shaft, the sound is coming from the driver side of the differential.

    I agree with eccracer104.
If the noise stops when you take a left, it sounds like the driver's side bearing is the issue. When your taking a left, the load/weight shifts more to the right of the truck, taking some of the load/weight off the left wheel.

Yeah, Fitz, I've determined its the drivers side front dif bearing. Just doing research on how involved it is to replace and best place to source parts

Sorry, I just re-read your post, and saw Diff bearing.

Did you do the 4wd test? (assuming you have 4wd, put it in 4wd, and noise goes away).

Haha yup, diff bearing not wheel.

As far as H2 vs H4 it sounds the same in both twd and fwd.

It sure sounds like a wheel bearing to me. Typically when the driver's side diff. bearing is going, when it's put in 4wd, the noise goes away. Also you said when turning the noise goes away. Both of those make me think it's a wheel bearing.

What makes me believe it's not the wheel bearing is the fact that we didn't hear any odd. Noise from the wheel bearing and traced the noise to the diff

On a ten year old truck, you will likely still hear the hum in 4wd if it'd the diff bearing

Your initial post said the sound was from the front right as in passenger side but in your next post you said you jacked up and inspected the drivers side ? What you are describing is text book wheel bearing, if it was the diff the noise would go away in 4wd. When the truck is jacked up and there is no weight on the wheel bearing it will Not make any noise. I fear you have not properly diagnosed the wheel bearings so here is the proper method.

Jack up the front end so that the wheel is completely off of the ground. Next, grab the wheel at 12 and 6 and give it a firm shake top to bottom like you are trying to wiggle it off of the axle. If there is slop in the bearing this is how you will feel it. Rotating the wheel does nothing, you must wiggle it 6&12 to feel a damaged bearing.

The initial post was before I checked the driver side.

As far as the wheel bearing being bad, I'll have to check that after work today. But this still does not explain the grinding coming from the driver side diff when CV is spun by hand

My two cents - The front diff itself is offset to the drivers side quite a bit so when you are under the front end turning the drivers side front wheel you are right on top of the actual diff and simply hearing the gears turning right in your face. The symptoms you are describing are just 110% what a thousand other people have experienced with a bad wheel bearing which is why we are steering you that way. Let us know after you check it...I'll put a fresh crisp $1 on a wheel bearing :)

So I checked out the wheel, there is no slop in the wheel bearing

Unfortunately, it's not that simple when dealing with double row bearings such as these. A even one pit in one race of the bearing and it will make horrific noise with no play. It's also not simple to diagnose such issues over the internet, so for what you replace, you'll have to make the decision yourself based on what you're seeing first hand. I do agree with Evenflow and think you are hearing your diff side gears and spider gears, but again, it's a hunch based on your description, and not first hand info.

Well, I changed out the wheel bearing. Same noise is still happening under the same conditions. Next step, driver side differential bearing
