Has anyone had this problem where the truck simply accelerates on it's own??
The recall on the floor mats is a bunch of crapola. This has happened to me three times in 29000 miles on my 09 tacoma double cab V6. Each time I put
the truck in to neutral bring it to a stop and shift in to park. When shifting in to park the engine returns to idle. Being as it has only occurred three times
if I take it back to the dealer there never be able to trace it. No doubt a
problem with the fly by wire throttle

Confused on what your saying. It does what in neutral to park? It jumps forward? It speeds off in a blaze of glory? What does it do?

Only time mine has done anything related is with cruise control on it accelerated higher after first setting cfuise. It went up around 10-15 mph

Truck will accelerate like you pushed the petal to the floor with no
warning. Placing it in neutral allows it to free rev and when you shove it
in to park it goes back to idle

nobody has ever had an actual case of unintended acceleration... That whole clusterfuck was a bunch of idiots who either wanted money from toyota or who were pressing the gas without noticing

is your floormat area clear of bottles and whatnot? is your engine bay clear of debris?

Am I picturing this correct, you are driving along then with no warming full throttle. You then shift to neutral and the engine screams up to the rev limiter, you slow down to a stop with the engine screaming away and then you come to a complete stop and then shift to park and it returns to idle.

So when it's taking off on it's own, you stick into neutral or park? Doesn't it rev to redline?

I had this happen this past week. Coming into town, cruise set at 55 (hadn't touched the gas pedal in over 10 miles), I pulled the cruise stick back to cancel cruise. Engine load on ultragauge went to 100% so I pulled the cruise stick a couple more times without effect. It got just over 60 mph (4 cyl in 5th gear isn't a rocket lol) when I pushed the clutch to the floor and then the brake, but since the clutch went down first the motor got to about 4k rpm before the brake pedal override cut it back to idle. First time it's happened, hasn't done it again yet. I wonder if the high humidity affected it.

It would have been more 'fun' with the 4.0L but with the stick it's not even a panic-worthy event.

For those wanting to blame the floormat, I have the cheap huskyliners which prevents the accelerator from going all the way to the floor. I can only get about 95-97% engine load fully depressed. Literally the only time the load can go to 100% is under cruise.

I thought the recall included a brake over-ride.

It was supposed to, which I assume is why I didn't have to restart my truck when it happened to me. Once I got the rpm to fall back to idle I shut the cruise off, put it back into gear, and drove the rest of the way to work.

    Don't know why the OP's isn't

It took years for Audi to get over the sudden acceleration thing it all ended when a Judge fined a woman $10,000 for tying up the court system.

    That would suck

I'm not taking Toyota to court lol, having the ability to properly control the vehicle in the event of mechanical failures is supposed to be part of driving. Drive by wire is more reliable than cable, hands down, and I've lived through my share of sticky cables.

I bet something happened in my cruise switch that wasn't supposed to. It is four-direction with only two wires after all.

OP has a 2009; I remember my '09 had to get the PCM flash for that whole recall deal. OP, get it done if you haven't already. If anything it (almost) fixes the hill-happy schizo cruise control program.
