As posted before, I am a union member of the USW international. I think what gives a lot of unions bad raps is former members, or current members such as myself who are part of a shady local who has some pretty BS ways to run a union. I would absolutely love to get out of my union. I was part of the UMWA prior to transferring to a different power plant and I can say wholeheartedly that I fully supported my UMWA local. I would support a dissolution of my union right now. I absolutely believe the overall goals of unions are spot on and with good intentions, but that goal is lost on the local level a lot of times.

Preferably. I am a structural Ironworker for Seattle City Light, a nd was curious to see if this job exists with utilities in the north east. I am pretty new to this electrical utility field, just wondering how everybody else does it. Also if I would have job prospects in this field over there, other than going back to "real ironwork".

Verizon brothers and sisters starting their 7th week out on the line. (I think 7th). Biggest strike in years and barely any coverage on the news. Such a shame.

In a perfect world union is the best idea. Problem is some unions are ran horribly and not only do those members suffer, but the image suffers. Every day I listen to people talk about issues at work that I dont have to talk about because Im unionized. Feels good.

Lets see Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam only made $18.3 million and his entire key executive team made a total of $47.7 million in 2015. On top of that they have been slashing and burning the maintenance of land lines to the delight of their long standing home and business customers plus their cell service is not that much better. To make life even better for their customers and to the detriment of their long suffering employee's they have been busy during this strike employing unqualified scab subcontractors. Way to go Verizon your a standout example of what is wrong with corporate America today IMHO. I just hope your lousy Board of Directors say enough is enough and tell this overpaid CEO and his team its time to negotiate and settle this strike.

I would say 90% of the population would join if it were possible. Your would have to be retarded not too. Every single personal who ever argued this with me eventually agreed when the were screwed at work. Does. T always happen to everyone but it's far too common. Everyone should be equal in the world, greed has destroyed the very race we are....the end

I'd like to say thank you to the Union workers for fighting for my weekends, 40hr work week, OT, vacation, and many other items so many of us non-union workers take for granted

I guess 89% of everybody else has a boss that knows what is best for them, pays them extremely well, gives them too many days off, pays too much overtime ,for them to even think of complaining!
How about it 89%ers, is this how it works in your work world? My non-union bosses were a bit more attached to their money. They have good lawyers and lobbyists, too.
