So I already searched but really found nothing of interest, but is anybody doing anything interesting with their rear storage cubbies? My rig is a 2019, so I only have the small passenger side cubby next to the outlet and it just sits empty & unused. I’ve seen some folks install compressor connections & diff breather outlets in these cubbies, but kind of just wondering if anybody here uses the cubbies for anything that might not be totally obvious- ie, I’m not interested in hearing about storing ratchet straps or bed rack cleats or gloves or just random loose items in the cubbies- all blatantly obvious, duh. I’m also well aware that compressors can be installed in the large cubby, so let’s take this off the table too.

What say you- any unique or clever uses?

Incorrect. Simply stated a couple clever things I’ve seen, both of which I don’t need to do as I already have my compressor & diff breather implemented using other means.

Still interested in clever uses for these cubbies for myself and for others. If no ideas come from this thread, then so be it.

I store ratchet straps, rubber softeners, and jumper cables in mine. Plus some chunks of Paracord. Makes nice additions to the ratchet straps.

Didn't mean to come off as harsh as it did. If you already have diff breather/ compressor mounted in other fashions there isnt a ton out there. I would just use as intended like for tie downs, tow straps and trailer connectors like most. I too would like to see some more out there for those cubbies because in my second gen I have both big ones.

No worries. I just wanted to put the question out to the community to get some input about some random and/or specific uses that maybe a majority of us hadn’t thought of.

I have bed MOLLE panels w/ plenty of pouches fixed to them & already have much more storage than the cubbies can provide, so clever usage ideas are appreciated.

:notsure: Tiny Library, Hamster Cage, Fish Tank, Flux Capacitor, Mini Bar, Indoor Garden?

Seriously, I thought about buying one because of the unique clear door feature, so I can see what's in there. Those boxes typically get filled with crap and what not, only to be lost forever. :crapstorm: Also, it looks like that particular box has a sealed door feature, so it doesn't fill with dust like the OEM ones..

Couple recent posts with some unique ideas

If you want the compartment to be sealed against water and dust, there's a guy here on TW who sells 3D printed pieces that wrap around the outside of the holes where the door inserts into the cubby piece, along with gaskets for sealing the door inside the bed. I only run the diff breather to mine currently, but sealed the cubby up so the breather stays clean while being easy to access if needed.

The big thing is that it isn’t waterproof unless you install the boat box described above(great idea) since it does get wet I don’t want to store anything that gets wet so I installed a waterproof switch to control my bed lighting.
