I'm trying to mount a Universal Tiregate (UBM3030) Bed Mount in my 2016 Tacoma.

I'm trying to mount in the bed, closest to the cab of the truck. The center of the rim is 16 1/4" from the bed. Underneath the bed in this area is the plastic reinforcement ribs running across the bed.

Some people say to notch the ribs, so the metal base plate of the mount will fit. I think modifying the metal Tiregate base plate would be a better solution.

I'm thinking of cutting the base plate 2 3/4" to fit in between the plastic ribs. Hopefully someone has already mounted this to their 2016 Tacoma.

    Wilco Offroad Tiregate mounting issues!!!!

I decided to go with the Tiregate mount. Looks awesome, but so many issues mounting it to a Tacoma or probably any fiberglass/plastic bed.

You are not able to mount the bottom base plate flush, due to the reinforcement ribs that run across the bed (refer to photos).

I contacted Wilco Offroad and asked them for a solution, which the recommended cutting the beds reinforced ribs, so the base plate can be mounted flush.

I think this is a horrible idea and will compromise the strength integrity of the bed. I decided (against Wilco Offroad advice) to modify the base plate to fit in between reinforced ribs (refer to photos).

If I had to do it all over again.... I would have gone with the Fabtech FTS10001BK Spare Tire Mount. The Fabtech mount will fit without modification.
