Hey all. Did some forum searching and couldn’t find anyone having the same issue. I bought a 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport last week. My first 3rd gen (I’ve only had 2nd Gen’s previously.) When test driving, I noticed a sound that’s similar to a marble rolling around in a can. The dealership said they noticed it but the techs couldn’t find anything. I didn’t think much of it, confirmed if it turned into an issue it would be covered under warranty, and bought the truck. It’s becoming increasingly annoying and it’s bugging me I can’t figure out where it’s coming from. It sounds like a marble rolling around in a can. It’s coming from the front passenger side and it sounds exterior. It’s hard to reproduce. It usually happens when accelerating from a stop, or at low speeds when braking and it usually only happens when turning. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Check inside the door. Someone might have left a socket or some such there.

Did they check the marble reservoir? Maybe one shook loose.

It’s more front passenger wheel well/front passenger under-the-hood area. I’ve poked around in both areas and found nothing. With my limited knowledge, my first thoughts were either something rattling in the suspension or loose brakes.

I don’t think it’s the cv. It’s not so much a rhythmic click. More a random rattle.

Had an odd metallic clink sound on my RAV4, turned out it was something inside my tire. At just the right speed, whatever it was, followed the tire up and then dropped on the wheel just right to make the noise. Had checked everything in the suspension, then noticed it moved when I rotated the tires.

Look at the tweeter cover on the dash, it rubs with the a pillar and makes a noise like that, I shoved some foam in it and it doesnt make the rattle anymore

Bad front body mount is always my go to on this type of thing. All of them are torn from install and are the softest rubber known to man. I think Trojan should look into Toyotas supplier.

Pull the cabin filter behind the glove box and see if junk got in there or dead critters come in thru under hood intake passenger side.
Or someone dropped m&m in air vent.

Had this issue on my 17', even had a master tech drive with me. He blamed it on the fuel. I found out in order to fix the problem, I had to get a new truck. Someone totaled my 17'. I bought an 18' and the problem went away.

Have you checked your roof? I had a 10 mm open end wrench I had forgotten and left up there. Last about 2 weeks sliding from end to end getting stopped in the weather stripping channel. I occasionally heard what sounded like your problem until I finally looked up there :anonymous: surprised it stayed on that long. Does the truck have a roof rack or had work done on the head liner?

I had a similar issue on a Ram 2500. take a peak in the backside of your wheel, might have a little pebble or rock that's rolling around in there.

50 bucks says its a 10 mm socket.

But, if you want to know where it is, remove the wiper arms, remove the plastic wiper cover, I bet there is something in the wiper tray.
