I'll check everything over again but I am thinking it is the Cam bolt/bushing. Lord know's I do not want to replace the LCA right now. I just don't want my tire to rip off like Frankenbuild (Can't remember the full user name but you know what story i'm talking about). What type of grease are you putting on your's?

Good luck fully quieting down this truck all the time. These are noisy, clunky, and poppy trucks by nature. They are just sort of sloppy even if everything is tight. Once the brakes start wearing down they begin to shift in the caliper due to being dry and having a lack of pressure from a secondary retention clip from the factory. They will make noise when changing directions or spirited driving. Lower control arms cannot be too tight or too loose or they will clunk and pop when moving. As previously mentioned steering stops can make contact metal on metal for a brief second when turning. It's just in the design. You could spend forever chasing ghosts as far as noise is concerned, and never find it. That does not mean anything is loose.

This is how my old 65 ford is. He makes random noises and unless something falls off (not really) I just ignore it and he has been running strong since my grandpa bought him in 65.

My Taco on the other hand never popped until the one time in September and once this weekend. I'm going to check things out one last time before I leave on my four state bouldering trip.

Funny that this thread appears today.
Just got new wheels and tires on and I now have a pop/clunk/snap similar to what you are talking about.
Mine happens when the wheel is being turned left or right. Sounds like a metallic snap or pop.
Was thinking of taking a ride up to the shop that installed the wheels for me to have them listen to it and see what they say.

I would. Mine has only made the sound twice about 6 weeks apart. I would bug the shop until they find out whats wrong.

The mechanic that just did my wheels couldn't figure it out from hearing it.
Will be bringing back to him later this week.

I'll be using Valvoline Crimson grease.

You won't have the same problem that Blackdawg had with his FrankenTaco. That truck has been abused, and if I remember correctly the spindle broke off from the LCA. I don't think the LCA came off (I've been wrong before though).

If they're seized (sounds like they are from the alignment guy's feedback), there's no greasing them. Just run them. Keep looking for other stuff too though. I'm constantly chasing down noises on this fucking truck. That's what I get for living the philosophy of "If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is."

My mystery pop/clunk turned out to be the stock mudflap. 2005 Tacoma. I would sometimes hear it while backing out slowly, usually while turning. The mud guard was old and brittle, and the position had shifted. While the wheel was rotating backwards, the flap would catch on the tire during the turn, and would POP when it snapped back into place.

I don't anticipate them doing that. They have been great so far and I get my alignments (lifetime) done there too.
