I hear a similar sound from the engine but seems to drive fine so I make the radio louder.

Starting at 34000mi? I was wandering if maybe some got “broke in” in the exhaust. Seemed like it to me when I first noticed it

    That’s the rpm when the

    The ACIS/TVIS System
    Acoustic Control Induction System

    Kicks in.its normal.

edit to add that if it is a loud whistle I would get get the intake system checked out. It may not be functiininnproperly.

    @JaCado
My commute has the most hilly terrain and about a 3/4 mi steep climb. I tried 4th but the truck seemed to override and go to 3rd.

The truck is really stuggling on the hills now. I can feel the loss of power and see my rpms drop where it has never did this before.

The whistle is almost like a harmonic high pitch sound and while climbing a steep hill will manifest at around 3500 rpm, fade while letting off gas, then even return at 2500rpm. It will fad after letting off gas.

But once i have got back to fairly level ground, the harmonic whistle will not want to return.

I average 21mpg on my daily commute. It read 14.9mpg this morning.

Im really frustrated and scratching my head.

    High pressure fuel pump?

    Update

The truck seemed to improve alittle even before I ran that tank through.

Added a bottle of chevron fuel treatment/injection cleaner. Filled up with 93.

    Now back to 87 octane.

No whistle anymore. Doest seem like the truck struggles on the hill as much but definitely still notice a power loss on hills.

Even had my wife drive and she did mention a power loss on hills.

Not sure where to go from here...

Don't know how steep a hill the op is climbing or what speed going, but i've never had my truck go any higher than 3,000 rpm unloaded while maintaining a decent highway speed here on steeper hills. Its only when i had to pull my 2k lb. boat that needed more beef.

My truck will pull to redline at any gear. Going uphill or flat roads. That would drive me insane if it lost power at high rpms, since thats when most of the power is made.
