My 2005 2wd access cab automatic has been really easy to maintain over the last 7 years..

But this very recent noise is confusing the hell out of me..

While in drive and approaching a stop sign or any deceleration..a very loud and embarrassing sqeaky noise begins and does not stop until the truck comes to a complete stop..

If I shift it into neutral during deceleration..the noise does not occur..

The drive shaft..carrier bearing..3rd member..etc. all appear fine (bolted tight and normal wiggle clearances)

Anybody have any ideas of what the sound might be? Or what could be causing this?

Any input is appreciated..thanks in advance..

shifting into neutral eliminates braking systems i would guess.....if its a squeak i would check your sway bar bushings they start to squeak when the bushing dries up. I have had them squeak only in reverse on my rig before. Doesn't hurt to check and lube

But it could be your brakes when was the last time you had them checked and also possibly it could be your leaf springs aswell

u joint. i got an 05 and had to replace the back u joint at about 150k. i noticed my squeaking mostly when i was backing up and thought it was suspension then it progressed to a slight vibration . so put a new one in it with grease fitting i got from o'reilly's for like 16 bucks or somethin.

Sway bar was removed back in 05..

U joints are possible..but I replaced them last year..

Leaf springs are out of the question cus it happens only while in drive..

This would be my guess as well. I had a similar sound while slowing down and like you, wouldn't happen in neutral. It got progressively louder after about 2000 miles and then I could find the problem easier. But since you replaced them, hard to say.
