Right now it's a schrodinger's switch. It takes you back in time, ejects you out of your seat whilst firing rocket launchers at yourself shooting an oil slick out of your tailpipes, because, you know, time travel.
    ....
    Push it and tell us!!!

I don't understand the connection between Schrodinger and rockets and oil slicks.

Until we find out what the switch actually does, as far as we know it does all of the things mentioned in the previous posts.
It's a time travel machine, and a james bond button and an ejector seat switch and a...so on.

Was the previous owner making frequent trips across a border? You may need to call your lawyer before you push that button.

Those actually exist. They'll also burn NG and propane.

Not that I'd ever sell my truck. But if I ever do I know now that I must install one of these mystery buttons!!! Hahaha.. Maybe put a little sign on it that says "DO NOT PUSH IF TRAVELING OVER 130MPH"

It engages the spare wheel for extra traction. I believe it's stock on the 5x5's

Looks a lot like a heated seat button from an aftermarket install.

I spent many an hour wilts at work pondering over this perplexing conundrum. I surmised that this button can only result in one thing. Once pressed into the on position, 73 extra horse power is created resulting in a gain of 6.8mpg.

It's the switch that makes it run off 69 octane, it's very rare not many run it but when your ready, it'll drop your panties

OP, given the two options you gave in the vote-o-matic 3000; Electrical or Dash, I don't think you are going to figure this one out.

Could be anything. Did the previous owner have a bull bar or light bar mounted somewhere that you know of or can see evidence of something being mounted? If you look at the hole in the firewall of the engine compartment (between the battery and the steering wheel) you may see a stray wire coming out and going somewhere.

If you don't take the time to follow a wire than don't bother asking or worrying about it. Whatever it was for is quite likely gone.

I'd have a quick look in each fuse box to see if anything's been hacked or spliced or you have any add-a-fuse's.

I've seen the new mad max movie. That switch is clearly part of a start up procedure for the truck.
