I googled the heck out this one and failed. Without the fancy key fob and without the fancy head unit, is it possible to program the key fob to unlock all 4 doors with on press without going to the dealer?

Is it not in your head unit?

You can do it with tech stream and tatrix cable. But probably cheaper to have the dealer do it

Yes... Carista! Or other methods! But all four pop when I unlock!

The videos online suggest going to Apps -> Vehicle, but there is no such app on my head unit. I have two apps, notifications and WiFi, neither of which do anything useful. It appears I need to buy something. I think the videos are using the upgraded head unit

The various instructions in other articles and vudes about pressing buttons on my key fob result in my horn honking repeatedly.

Did you try with the engine off / on? I know some menu items are displayed/hidden depending if the engine is running or off. Worth a shot?

I figured it out. There was a settings menu, not mentioned in any video or article I found, and on that screen is a vehicle button that brings me to a screen where I can configure the locks and lights. I turned off everything that mentioned anything about automatically locking doors. Sheesh, I don’t store diamonds in my truck nor live in East St. Louis.

I also learned that I can use the head unit as a display for my phone. It’s amazing what one can learn when one takes the time to explore your truck. Hah!

Idk which head unit it is. I assume it’s the one that comes standard on the 2020 TRD off-road. It was never anything I cared about, which is sort of weird because I am a software developer by trade. I was more interested in the manual transmission, rear locker, and ATRAC.

Yes Apple Play is what I used to “project” my iPhone display onto the head unit.

On my 2020 I just have to hold down both the lock and unlock buttons on the fob until the truck peeps at me and then the drivers door will unlock all the doors when unlocking using the door handle grab mode...Still need to push twice if you are using the fob but if you already were using the fob pushing the unlock twice instead of one is well........pretty easy lol.

Thanks for the thread! Another Tacomaworld find of something I didn't know I needed til now :)

Was able to change the setting on my 2019 TRD OR. No need to start the engine, just power accessory on by hitting the start button twice.
