The kicker tweeters made a massive improvement in the sound field. Cymbals come alive, as do voices, guitars, etc...

    Glad I did it too.

@cryptolyme Check the above out. This is to use the Kicker Key 200.5 amp...

I can't remember exactly how much sq ft. I used, but I'll tell you everywhere I could get my arm inside of the door, there is sound deadening.

I'll also say! Someone opened their door as I was driving past them at a gas station. I was hitting on the insurance adjustor at the body shop and told her about the deadening. She told the bodywork guy, who claims that the extra material is the only reason they were able to repair the slice dent in my door instead of replace the door -- he wasn't willing to try the repair before she told him.

IMPORTANT: Don't ride around with your music all the way up if you do the deadening. I've been snuck up on by active ambulances twice.

What would you recommend? I've been looking at the Kicker Amp but didn't realize I could replace the HU and have that amplifier built in

I really don’t know, my best advice would be give Crutchfields a call and speak to them.

My stock HU is crappy and has some white noise built in which gets amplified by the amp. Less than ideal.

I put those on my '21 and it made a huge difference. Especially in the clarity, but its noticeable in the volume.

Edit: I do highly recommend you get an amp if you want really loud speakers, but Im sure you already know that.

speaker sounds tend to per personal preferences, in my case the kicker tweeter upgrade was the first thing I did and it was almost painful to listen to music loud on the factory system. too high pitched
I did a full kicker upgrade and added a 10" pioneer sub with mono amp and sounds really good. my last truck was a canyon with the bose system and this is even better.

I also used sound deading on the rear deck, rear floor, and doors. It's a night and day difference for only about $50. My lifted truck with mud tires and exhaust is almost dead quiet. Im assuming the deading material stoped a lot of interior panel vibration from the sub since it's not an issue.

minor, TRD skid plate, front recovery points, Regken mud flaps, rear diff breather, AC drain pipe extended. Upgraded sound with active sub woofer, tonneau cover, CB radio.

IMO AND EXPERIENCE,(since 1980-s to current Tacoma 2019) replacement of ONE pair of speakers is not effective.
ALL SPEAKERS must be replaced. Then you have to decide, depends of how picky you are and your budget, just adding powered subwoofer under seat....
or going waaay up with <example & personal experience> Speakers DLS, CAR STUDIO amplifiers, e.t.c.
Go further, put in Nakamichi HI-FI level HU. Choice is yours, but the whole idea of my point -
do not expect dramatic imrovement with just replacing one pair of speakers.

As far up as I could get on the inner door handle, yeah. I also got inside the speaker hole on both sides of the door, as far as I could reach. Every door feels like a luxury door when you close it.

I do have a little rattle in the same area. If I press into it with my knee it goes away. I'm wondering if there's a loose clip, or if it's the door lock cables rattling against themselves / the housing
