I have beat the ever living shit out of my '06 and every problem I have had I can point at a rock, stump, puddle, jump, or sand pit that caused the problem.

Thanks guys, yes it's true, took the advice went to other forums and opened my eyes. It's just I did my homework before I got my jeep it was a 12 so they were not out yet, it was only a few months after that the slew of issues came out. Then kind bite my tongue with it. That's all did not want to be bit again. I appreciate the help, understand and don't think the Tacoma will ride like a car,
It's just that spending all this $$$ on these vehicles it's the little issues that were overlooked that irk me, but then again perfection is an idea, lol thanks guys

I'm on my 3rd Toyota truck.

I have put about 1000 miles or so on my 2013 and it has been the "perfect' vehicle for me with the exception of one problem.

Evidently there's a common problem with a whistle that's caused with the weather stripping where the grill meets the hood. I personally just managed to fix this today by wedging a plastic 1/4 inch outer diameter vacuum hose in beside the weather stripping to reenforce it.

Other than this problem, I cannot identify another problem. I find it funny when people talk about the road noise because I find this truck, and my previous 2003 to have been quite smooth and quiet on the road.

These are trucks, so you're going to feel a little more bump than a regular sedan.

In any case, I have been thrilled with many of the upgrades this model has in contrast to my previously owned 2003. I put over 100,000 miles on my old truck and it never once left me on foot. I had very few issues that I can mention at all.

I'm sure there are problems with all kinds of truck models, but I am a devoted Toyota truck guy for over 22 years. I wouldn't want another kind of car. If I won the lotto today, I'd already have the car I want which is totally awesome.

My one gripe is why oh why didn't they make the 2013 in GOLD? Gold is pretty. Prettyyyyyyyy....mmmmmmm...

To the O.P. I say buy the Tacoma and don't look back! Don't worry about problems posted in forums. like someone else said, these forums have a skewed sample of hardcore off roaders and people looking for a solution to a problem.

I'm on my 2nd truck, first Toyota. I love my 2013 Tacoma, 2,500 miles so far; It doesn't have any squeaks or leaks and the cabin seems very quiet to me. First time it rained, I braced for the tin can effect that I read about on here, but thought it just sounded like any other car I've ever owned. It has a way better build quality than my 2003 Cadillac Deville which always sounds like crickets chirping in the dash ever since my parents bought it new, and now also has a blower motor that chirps loudly on either of the two highest speeds. Not to mention the electric window that is currently clamped, and the cracked plastic piece in the engine head that was fixed under warranty. Sold my first truck, a 2001 Chevy S-10, at 115,000 miles because it was going to fail the next PA state inspection due to rust issues, and had also left me stranded at a home depot around that time.

Do the research on other brands. Chevy and Ford both have terrible problems with critical things like the engine and transmission. Lots of times just after being out of warranty around 70k miles too. I do have a slight drive line vibration at 2k rpm, which almost goes away completely when the truck warms up and also in higher gears. I am going to point it out at my first service, but am not to worried. Not sure I would have even noticed anything if it weren't for this site.

I'm looking to buy within a couple months, live in city, but do go upstate where snow n other light off road issues arise time to time. Hauling stuff is also why I need a truck with bed. Just don't know which package, ie options. Thinking the sport would be a good choice but then a buddy said the stunner is better for my needs.

Haven't owned a Toyota pickup yet that I drove less then 200K and none of them had any issues that bothered me. Now if your new Bentley has a wind whistle that maybe another story but you can't haul much in a Bentley.
