Pulled the trigger on a Dobinsons lift. As I started looking at bump stops I did not think about shock collapse. I ordered IMS long travel shocks for the rear which have a compressed length of 16.5" and requires a larger bump stop which will limit up travel. The extended duro bump is 4.25" tall. This shock extends to 26.9"

My other option is the same shock, standard length which has a compressed length of 14.2" and utilizes standards bump stops. Standard duro bump is 3.5" tall. The extended length of the shock is 24.2"

    I'm looking at it like
    Long travel/bump 26.9"-4.25" =22.65" travel.
    Standard travel/bump is 24.2"-3.5"=20.7" travel.

Am I thinking this through right? Is there an advantage to up travel vs down travel? Obviously ground contact is important, just want to make sure I'm thinking this through straight.

What leaf pack will you be running? If you can measure those, I can give you an idea on bump stop length needed.

Spring pack thickness and shock compressed length will dictate what height bump stop spacer you need to run.

I'll be running the Dobinsons medium pack and stepping up the heavy pack eventually.

If you can get a leaf pack thickness measurement, that would help. With our U-Bolt flip / Bump stop kit we have different size spacers available depending on the configuration. This allows for the most up travel. Up travel is very important and often under-rated. There is no specific required number, but upwards of 3-5" of up travel would be ideal for good ride quality. Too little, you will be smashing that bump stop too often. Those rubber bump stops are also very harsh.
