Super fantastic that you’re going. We’ll make plans and advise as the week progresses. We should probably start a thread to keep up..... @Winkle99 you are pretty organized and well spoken.....

It's one of the easier ones out there.
There's video of someone doing it in an old impala or something.

I may get out of town about the same time as you but i'm going to try for earlier. Figuring this time of year the camp sites will be pretty well taken by 6-7pm. If I do get a spot you're welcome to join, they've got 2 vehicle limits on individual sites.
It's definitely a good opportunity and i'm excited to meet everyone! I do not have a CB, I'm on 2 meter band though. @johntoyota you have a frequency?

Possibly - lets see what the rest of the group has in the way of comms. I can only receive since I do not have a HAM license. Correct?

CBs work fairly well out there as line of sight is frequently pretty good. Having some kind of ability to communicate is a pretty good thing if possible.

I like sleeping under the stars! There are a bunch of large spots heading out toward Hoorah Pass and Kanes Kreek that should easily accommodate this group.

I'm down for wherever. At earliest I'll be able to head out Friday morning but if you guys are able to grab a spot ahead of time just let me known where you end up.
My HAM license is expired. I will be retesting in the near future. So I can tune in but won't be able to radio back. Considering doing a handheld cb with magnetic antenna because of the wide usage but the range is so bad and I'll likely end up selling it all when I get my license again. Any recommendations for that setup? Midland seems to have a decent handheld and I can throw a 3' antenna up top. I can get the Wilson 1000 but 5' above the roofline seems like it'd cause more issues than the slightly longer range would be worth.

I'll get with you when I know for sure and if you want to caravan out there together we can.
