I'm bored so I'm going to go check it out now. Probably camp there tonight. Last weekend the water crossing looked maybe doable.

I went up to Halfmoon last night. At about 5 the water was high enough that I wouldn't be comfortable crossing. This morning at first light it was much lower.

Looks like @Theetrentmeister was up their recently and got across.

Yeah the water is high and going through there is a little drop off that scared the crap out of me because the water almost went over my hood which is the only time in my life I had wanted a snorkel. As long as you have momentum pushing the water out of the way it isn't bad at all especially coming back because you're not fighting the water, and the bottom is rock solid.

saying if the snow is still an issue on the other side of the creek... if you make it to the creek and are stopped by snow.. it's still a fun day up to that point

just an FYI...Medano Pass is closed. Better check the park website before going to see if they've cleared the damage. When I went on the 4th, the gate is closed on the north side at the top, just after the ranch.

I'm not running halfmoon now. I'm not comfortable with how high the water crossing is.

Anyone know any relatively difficult trails are open around BV besides Chinaman's Gulch? Bonus if there are camping spots near a lake. Looking to go next weekend, if anyone wants to join.

Replaced engine with gerbils for sustainability.
Wheeler Lake is a little bit of a drive, but it's fun. Still had a little bit of snow over part of it last weekend.
