I had to drive to DIA during the snowstorm the other day. Idaho Springs got a lot.

Given that wording, it does not sound like a "first hand" account of the actual trail condition. I'm not a fan of that approach, more so if it's being done widely on TrailsOffroad.

Makes me think of a fishing location status update website wherein one user visited the page of every high altitude lake in March and marked each location as "frozen". Clearly the user didn't visit each location to confirm. Since users get points for each status update, it seemed like a points grab and one I'd like to think the admins didn't credit the user for. TO issues points too, and theirs are automatic (versus admin-approved in the case of the fishing website)... hmmmmmm.

There's a legit review of Rainbow Rd (which takes you to the start of the Chinns trail/road) from the 26th on TO... and based on it, Yes. They made mention of a 6-8 foot drift.

I don't think Chinn's closes. I ran it in the snow at the beginning of the season just couldn't make it to the top because it got too deep

Ive tried to venture back on Rainbow Rd before for an afternoon joyride and couldnt make it far because of snow. Ive never run Chinns though so hard to say but I cant imagine it being that different. Not sure why I never took that left.

Todd's reviews are usually accurate which is why I posted the information. And given a review of Rainbow road mentions a 6-8 ft drift it makes Chinn's impassible. Give a whirl, post "first hand" updates, if it is in fact impassible make sure to stay the trail and not make a "passable" route.

I'll just put a big radiant heater on the front end and bring enough beverages to pass the time as the snow melts

Bring your family, friends, dogs and grub to the...

2019 Edition of the Weston Pass Send It Run!

    When:
    Sunday, December 1st or Sunday, December 8th @ 9:30am
(Put what date works best for you in the comment and we'll go with the most popular!)

    Where:
Meeting location will be the corner of CR-5 and 285 where there is a large open parking area that will be impossible to miss. 39.153701,-105.999760
(Your last chance for gas will be in Fairplay!)

    Comms:
    HAM - RS2 - 156.480
(Bring extra handhelds if you have them)

    Additional Info:
    - Webster Pass is a stock friendly trail. Not technical at all. Pretty much a dirt road w/ snow.
    - We will be snow bashing up Weston Pass from the east side, eating pot-luck lunch wherever we get stuck. Might be no snow might be tons, should be a good time.
    - Family friendly, plenty of scenery, bring sleds for the kids. Also, bring snow gear. No matter what, it is pretty much guaranteed to be windy.
    - Put what food/drinks you will bring as well. Might need to limit it this year, had wayyyy too much last year.
    - Fill up on gas in Fairplay!

    Going:
@bot102 (Either day works, Chicken Caesar Wrap half's)

Maybe: (Please try to make your decision at least 24hr's before)
