I noticed today my tires are down to 23psi with all the cold. Might have had something to do with it :anonymous:

    It rides quite nice though.
I thought it was strange that I had the pedal to the floor and spent a lot of time in 4th.

With 23 psi and having the hubs locked in I'm surprised I did that good.
I normally don't have any issues going down the interstate in 5th at 75+mph.

Sunday February 23rd the Larimer County 4 wheel drive club, AKA the Mountaineers, will be hosting it's annual sledding trip to Happy Jack sledding hill in Wyoming. I would like to invite any who wish to attend as my guest. Bring friends, family, kids, granny, etc..

This is sledding, in the snow, it's usually cold, dress appropriately. Don't ask why I feel the need to say that...

Happy Jack is along I-80 between Laramie and Cheyenne.
The route we normally take is down highway 287 and we divert across what I think they call the Punkin Vine road, to I-80 so it's not pavement pounding the whole way. It's usually a high speed trip down a rough dirt road, sometimes snow and ice covered. There is a brief stop at the Ames Monument to take pics.

Cost is $5.00 per vehicle for parking at the hill. No getting around that.
This is an old tow rope ski hill, no tow rope anymore, we have to walk up. We usually have a few minor injuries, so PLEASE be careful. No broken bones yet.

Bring sleds, snowboards, skis, tubes, whatever you want to ride down the hill on. We've even had a few ride a grain shovel occasionally.
Maybe bring a camp chair if you want to sit and just watch. Lots of bodily carnage to see.

Traditionally the Mountaineers hold a chili lunch on site. I will not know for sure if this will happen until the club meeting on Wednesday the 19th. I'll post an update to this when I find out. So for now plan on bringing a lunch.

We will have a fire so wienies can be roasted... bring your own wienie.

IF the chili lunch takes place:
All sledders are asked to bring 1 can of chili per big person, any kind you want. Bring a bowl and a spoon. A large plastic cup works well for a bowl, this is how I roll.
At the base of the hill we set up a tripod and a big pot over an open fire and all the canned goodness goes in and seems to come out pretty darn tasty. Bring your own beverages. Cheese and onions are usually provided but I cannot guarantee it, so bring what you like to be safe. I'll post again after the meeting to let you know what to expect.

We meet at the North College King Soopers at College and Willox.
We leave the parking lot promptly at 9:00 am, don't be late.
We are on CB Channel 13. If you don't have a CB, we will talk smack about you.:p

Stay as long as you want. Usually after a few hours of sledding a group will take off and do some wheeling on a nearby snow covered trail before leaving for home.

You sled at your own risk on this hill.

Alcohol is not allowed during club events. Please respect this one and only rule. Afterwards is your call.

(the Scout that is mentioned is mine)

If anybody is curious to attend a club meeting, all are welcome.
Third Wednesday of every month. February's meeting is the 19th.

Knights of Columbus, 121 North Meldrum, Fort Collins. Meetings start at 7:30 pm and usually only take an hour. Cookies and snacks are provided.

    :D

No but I figure it's one of the lower elevation trail systems... plus it's south so it shouldn't be too deep... I hope

The next cabin meet will be soon. Hopefully more successful than last time (not that last time wasn't awesome, but only Sean and fam and Aaron showed up). Sean, you've been there, is it too small for a big group of people to have a good time there?
Just wondering if I should do multiple meets with fewer people, or one bigger meet with everybody.
