Your in Sterling too? How cool! I see from your profile to the side of your post that you have a Sheriffs badge. Your not a LEO as well are you? I work out at the Correctional Facility here in town.

I just hiked up to crystal lake in breck this past sunday. Only reason i quoted you bob is that wheeler lake is very near crystal lake trail. Trail gate was closed due to tree clearing and a couple snow piles that would probably stop most trucks. The size of the tires that were going through the snow drifts looked like a tree cutter or something way bigger than 35's. I cant wait to drive up to crystal lake and then hike up to upper crystal lake. The road up to mohawk lakes was open the whole way and is nothing but a fire road.

I went to Gibson lake on Saturday (12,000') and stayed pretty close and there wasn't much snow at all. As long as I am off work I am down.

It looks like a fun one, not to bad at all, mostly rocky fire road with a couple steep sections. Their is an old abandoned mining cabin up at the lower lake. We had a storm rolling in or we would have hiked the switch backs up to the upper lake. The trail gets shut down right at the lower lake so you cant drive up to the upper lake anymore. I wanna hit up mohawk lakes, blue lake, wheeler lake and Pacific Tarn lake

me and kayla were planning on doing a lot of siteseeing up in the mtns this year checking out high mtn lakes and waterfall, so if you hit any of those up on the weekends and don't mind another truck tagging along let me know, we'd bring our dogs up too..we'll probably try to camp up at some of them if we can too

For sure, you would have no problem at all going up crystal lake trail, once the gate opens up. We spotted an amazing camp site off that trail too, might have to make another trip up this summer. The Continental falls which is part of the mohawk lake trail is awesome looking. Huge falls, tons of area to explore up there. Ill keep you posted, although we have a pretty packed june so i might not make it back up to that area till late june or july.

Peak 10 is a fire road up to the radio tower on the 4th of july bowl and a great quick trail too. Thats where my old sig picture was taken. Very easy trail, but the final switch back is a tight one, im a wussy and didnt make it. Im sure id make it now

Same with Amanda and I. She's a little more reluctant and I need to secure a tent as well but I want to get up there and see a lot of these places on person that I've never seen. I've lived in the Fort Collins/Loveland area for over 15 years now and haven't been to places not accessible by motorcycle similar to those in your sig pic. That's a pretty small sample of what's to see and nothing back woods or interesting really. I would also like to get some fishing in as I haven't done that in a couple decades. I grew up in Nebraska and we camped and fished but that's a lifetime ago and I want to get back to my roots. The wife really hasn't done any of that and has also shown some interest in fishing as well. If someone doesn't mind a couple of rooks tagging along for site seeing and trail riding (nothing serious as my truck is relatively stock and I don't feel like breaking/fixing things) then count us in too. I can provide security, protection from viscous wild animals, wonderful anecdotal exchanges and a wife who's not hard on the eyes. lol Our dog isn't exactly a camping type dog so we'll probably leave him at home.
