Closed indefinitely due to old mine Medigation. But even if they were open like normal that first part packs in snow and usually you cannot even start up the trail.

Yeah I thought it might be wishful thinking. Haven't heard about the mine mitigation though.

I saw someone who hit the ironclads recently.. Might be fun

I don't want to go wheeling until I finish installing my extended brake lines, and I won't be doing that until Saturday so I might be down for Sunday

You sure about that? I seem to recall reading that the entire trail was only closed on the specific days they were walking equipment (excavators, etc) up there. Otherwise it was just a closure area around the mine itself. Or maybe from whatever trail junction is up towards the end there. It's been a while since I read the notice though.

McClellan was not supposed to take any machinery or grading, Argentine was. That is what the stewards told me last spring at least.

Went up there last fall and the mine was fenced off with fallen tree fences. There were some info sheets that stated the clean up would not be in fill effect until next spring. During clean up operations the road was to be closed full time. That is what the signs said. But they could alway change that.

If I've got the right one, we're talking about the Santiago Mill closure.
    Closure notice: http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprd3848576.pdf
    Closure map: http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprd3848577.pdf
Clear Creek MVUM for reference: http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5165771.pdf

Edit (ha, interesting post timing): the sheets Odomandr posted here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/colorado-trip-reports.250254/page-89#post-10737522 ? I'm putting that as a reference link as much for me or anyone else to be able to find it as anything else. I knew it had come up in discussion here before.
