Check that the passes are open, 4 weeks ago snow was already closing them (and sun melting, re-opening them). Long drive unless you have some kind of Moab plan B.

Well it was snowing last weekend and still open. It's supposed to be good weather down there this weekend. According to the fs it was open a couple days ago.

I would do it, but just keep a plan B in mind, all have gates so not much you can do about it if they decide to close it.

Edit: If you go in via Lake City, there would still be ghost towns, Head South or back to Gunnison, etc.

Actually what am I thinking. Go the Montrose/ Ridgeway/ Ouray side and you have State road 5,7,9 (Yep goes right through the Ralph Lauren ranch but as long as on road, their yelling is harmless). Dallas Divide, last dollar road into Telluride can be awesome with fall colors & Hwy 550 to Silverton.

Especially if the Wilson's have snow and Color below. Last Dollar Road is a great way in and Imogene is a nice way back to Ouray.

Any stock friendly runs going on this weekend? I finally have some free time. Hoping to stay within a couple hours of Denver.

I thought we decided red cone wasn't stock friendly without sliders?

Is that what we desided? You can ride along if the family is not going. But i assume thats why you want to be stock friendly. I cant remember any spots that were inpassable without hitting the sides. My uncle does it all the time with a stock 4 runner and leveling kit so i would think you could do it to if you went slow.

Wife is too scared to go wheeling. If I'm ever out on the trails I'm riding solo. I'd be down to ride shotgun. What time are you going?
