One week left! Bumping this again in the hopes of drumming up some company. I’m not sure if there are any time limits on when I am able to amend my white rim permit.

Here are my plans for the week of Rock Therapy. Let me know if you are interested in joining for all or part of the pre-Rock Therapy festivities. I will continue to update this post as my plans solidify.

Oct 14th: Leave Denver and head to Montrose. Begin Rimrocker trail and find a dispersed camping campsite after entering the Uncompahgre National Forest (~12 miles from start of trail)

Oct 15th: Continue along the Rimrocker trail and make camp that night in the Manti La Sal National Forest near the Colorado/Utah border

Oct 16th: Finish the Rimrocker and roll into Moab. Stake out a campsite in Moab for the rest of the week/Rock Therapy.

Oct 17th: Start the White Rim trail (**Permit in hand for campsite "Potato Bottom - B"**) This camp site is 66 miles from the beginning of the trail so I will be getting an early start on the trail. I would like to start the trail at or before sunrise (approximately 7:30 am) to allow for maximum travel and site seeing time. Planned stops along the way include the Gooseneck Overlook (0.6 mile "hike"), Musselman Arch, and Washer Woman Arch.

Oct 18th: Finish White Rim trail and head back to Moab to join the Rock Therapy festivities. The remainder of the White Rim trail is shorter which allows more time for side hikes. Planned side hikes include Fort Bottom Ruin (3 miles) and Moses and Zeus (1 mile)

Oct 19-21: Take in as much as Moab has to offer (Possible trails to be run: Top of the World, Golden Spike, Fins N Things, hell’s revenge, poison spider mesa open to suggestions from those with Moab experience)

Oct 22nd: Say goodbye to Moab and book it back to Denver via I-70

**The White Rim campsite permit allows for 3 vehicles and up to 15 people, but I will need to call and modify the permit so if you're in, you're in. No backing out. Each vehicle requires a $30 fee for the camping permit and a $25 fee to enter the park (park entry fee is valid for 7 days and can be paid ahead of time online here https://www.pay.gov/public/form/start/74186020). This is highly recommended so there is no need to stop at the visitor center prior to entering the park. If you are interested in sharing the campsite with me you can paypal me the $30 camping fee and I will get the permit amended to include your vehicle. You will be responsible for paying your own park entry fee.

A good map of White Rim can be found here: https://www.nps.gov/cany/planyourvisit/upload/island.pdf

Good Rimrocker info here (maps, gpx files, etc): http://rimrockertrail.org/

Here is a pretty nice guide showing info for many of the tourist activities surrounding Moab: http://www.discovermoab.com/pdf/gclodging.pdf

Keep an eye on the trail conditions for rim-rocker. It has areas that close due to snow/high elevations in both Colorado and Utah.

I was just thinking about this and trying to find a way to check on those trail conditions before heading out. I checked bushducks but they didn’t seem to have any directly applicable info. Thanks for the heads up! Since it looks like I will be traveling alone my backup plan is to just head straight to Moab and spend more time exploring arches and Canyonlands until RT starts.

I'll be in Moab October 14-17. Gonna run a few easier trails solo (fins and things, onion creek difficulty) the 14-15 and running hell's revenge and TOTW with a few buddies the 16-17. If you're plans change and you find yourself in Moab early and want to run some trails, hit me up

Oh yeah I was stalking that thread to see if the dates aligned. Our crew does an annual Whole Enchilada mountain bike trip, so rolling with them and just wheeling/hiking with the girl (her first time to Moab). Next year gonna put RT on the calendar...
