Sounds like a really great way to get people killed with back feed power.

Want to know why my trailer came with a 30 foot extension cord?

Because now the noise is your problem, not mine. :bananadead::cookiemonster:

They wire a transfer switch to your breaker box to prevent backfeed. Legit concern without that.

Most of the time people just run power direct through cords to applications and it can't backfeed.

No thanks. I'll go the simple old fashioned route of unplugging appliances and rolling my yard and garden cords down my hallway.

I don't mess with jury rigging breaker boxes or suicide cords.:bananadead:

I don't believe it is any different than remote starting a truck. No keys necessary and there are other safety measures in place to prevent theft.

Simple, you make other plans. Either you don't need power every minute of the day, or you drive another vehicle to work. Most people (families) don't have just one. If you're alone and you're leaving your generator unattended while you drive your power station to work, we're back to square one.

It's a bit loud, but it's below 5% thd and runs anything you want.

I bet so. One of these days Id love to have a switch wired up.

We had this setup in Africa. Transfer switch and remote starter were right by the front door. Only thing missing was the fuel gauge. Diesel generator, there was hell to pay if you let it run dry.

I installed a remote plug in for my generator, there is a 6 way outlet inside that allows me to hook up my cords inside instead of thru the door or window like before.

Yeah diesels don’t like that very much. I use a Honda eu7000 and it pretty much runs everything.

I just found out that Cummins makes whole house units this morning. Before that, I was considering Generac. One of the two is going in our next build (or if consulting goes well this year, this house). Otherwise, 3500W portable and manual switchover going in.

If you can find a retired electrician you could possibly save some money, either way it’s worth it though

Just wait two weeks and all the "broke" people will be returning generators to the Home Depot and Lowes because of some bullshit excuse. I saw this every single time in CA when I worked at Home Depot in college. The disaster comes and disaster goes, i'd see the same shit with window a/c units, swamp coolers, lawn equipment etc. Oh code enforcement wants me to mow my lawn, better go "buy" I mean rent a lawn mower for a few weeks at Home Depot. I'll mow just long enough to get into the heat of summer and then return it
