We will be driving from Dallas to Las Vegas first week of December (gotta be in Vegas on Dec 9 for a hockey game. GO STARS!!).
The current idea is to drive from Dallas to Palo Duro Canyon in the Texas panhandle, then up to Pueblo Co and stay the night.
Then from Pueblo go to Moab. Spend a day or 2 there and then go down to Vegas for the game.
When we leave Vegas we want to go to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and weather permitting do some hiking. I get mixed reports of it being hikable at this time.
From there it's i40 to Albuquerque for a day, then back home to Dallas.
Is this feasible going through that area of the country that time of year without tire chains and survival gear? I've never been to those areas other than flying in and out of Vegas.

If you’re near Albuquerque hit up Shiprock / do yourself the favor and continue NW into Southern Utah / NW Arizona for these:

    Arches NP / Moab
    Monument Valley
    4 Corners
Zion NP / Bryce Canyon NP
    The Wave
    Antelope Canyon
    Horseshoe Bend

Pueblo is an shit hole. I would avoid at all costs. From Dallas, you could make it to Kiowa National grasslands in NM in about 9 hours on interstates. Free to camp there, waaay cooler temps than Texas, and not all state parky.

Then the haul from there to Moab is another 9 hours on interstates.

Once again, avoid Pueblo! @Mrguitarguy01 @redtaco512 @lilred95 would back me up on this.

If you are in Pueblo you might as well check out Aloha... it’s quite the sight

OK, so stay away from Pueblo. Got it. Just drive through with the windows up and stay on the highway?? lol We want to hit up Colorado on our trip, since I've never been there.
The current plan is that we are going to leave Thursday dec 6th and have to be in Vegas on the 9th for the hockey game. We've been to vegas several times so we aren't to concerned with stuff to do there. Just want to see the game and continue on the trip.
I'm just hoping i don't have to drive through a blizzard to do this. I know nothing about the weather in the area at that time of the year.
