It's when it stops smoking you need to worry.

Sounds like a head gasket leak?

Thats very possible and more likely the case. My runner does it for the first 5 min then it clears out. I do lose coolant but it really only happens when I run the A/C.

Stuff that costs more than my wife thinks.
I've also got a recovery hitch that I'll be running, and will have a couple spare shackles, snatch block, etc. I can't imagine we'll be worse for wear in terms of recovery gear.

Yeah head gasket is what I am thinking/afraid of.. Not something I really want to be screwing around with 40 miles from pavement.
If the combustion test comes back negative for exhaust gases in the coolant, I'll follow up with a compression test and send it if both those are good.
Otherwise, I dont want to end up as dead weight 40 miles from pavement

Yeah I have gotten it before for the first couple minutes until it warms up on a cold morning, but this morning I was 15 minutes into my commute still blowing smoke behind me. Turned her around and swapped cars to take a better look tonight. Of course it has to be valentines day too

Well, got home today and she started up perfect with no smoke.
Passed the combustion test, so there’s no exhaust in the coolant.
Guess I’ll just chalk it up to condensation and some old gas and keep getting ready for this weekend!

:headbang: Hell yeah! I started up the 4runner this morning and drove it to work. Was spitting white smoke while it was warming up. Also was like 25 degrees when I was leaving. It cleared up by the end of the neighborhood. It always just has a rough time while its cold and for how long it sits without getting driven.

On the other note we got Steven's @radio1521 20240214_174355.jpg 20240214_174403.jpg 20240214_180756.jpg bumper yesterday and pretty much mounted. We have a few things to button up this afternoon but should go quick and get him back down the hill to start getting packed and ready.

Which night is cobbler happening? Just realized your Friday camp spot is less than an hour from my house. Can’t camp or run the trail, but I could hang out for some beers on Friday if you guys don’t mind the extra company?

Cobbler is saturday night. We need to earn it by running the trail. But yeah come on out and hang out with us friday night.

Edit: @Yacob_D might need to make 2 with how many people will be around.

Ya i was thinking of making it both nights, just a mess cleaning the Dutch oven twice.. It is kinda an "Earned treat".. Besides that it's Way better to eat when your that beat tired. We can do smores, or anyone is welcome to bring something to share? I'm packing light on food, cheese crips and sandwich wraps! Lots of beer and water!
EDIT I'll have enough to share for the 2nd night crew, figure we would double the batch from last time.

Since Whits coming I will not be packing light lol. She is going shopping tomorrow so we will see what she gets. For the most part I am sticking to beer, whiskey and mountain house meals maybe a sammich or two.

Awesome! I was mostly joking about the cobbler part, don’t sign up for extra hassle just on account of me. I should be pretty solid to head out after work. I’ll bring beer and snacks to share. I’ve got the cords from the first post, hit me up if anything changes.
