Made a post back in February about the engine in a 2023 Tacoma OR stopping during my first time driving it: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2023-off-road-engine-problem.792497/

It has taken awhile to sort things out with the dealer which is why I’m updating now. Had to chase them for weeks about what was wrong with it, then eventually when they could get me a new Tacoma since it didn’t seem like they were going to be able to diagnose/fix the previous Tacoma anytime soon. Not what I was I expecting for a new vehicle but I suppose it happens.

Dealer eventually agreed to get me a new Tacoma, same model etc, and pay me for lost interest and insurance for the time I didn’t have the vehicle. They then called saying the previous Tacoma was fixed… I said I wanted the new truck they agreed to and that’s what I picked up yesterday.

The dealer had a couple different stories for what was wrong with the previous Tacoma depending on who I talked to, but the last I heard was that a valve spring had broken in half. Seems pretty unusual.

Overall a bit of a pain in the ass but no one got hurt when the truck initially stopped working on the highway and have a new Tacoma now. Looking forward to using it over the summer on some backroads.

The dealership did good by getting you a new one.

With that dealer even willing to reimburse you for lost interest, and insurance speaks volumes for being one hell of a good dealer. I'd be willing to bet there are not many willing to do that.
