Anyone who can weld like that isn't welding checker plate tool boxes.

Agreed, reason I asked if it was his is because I actually saw the exact same weld on Facebook the same day lol. Cants stand when someone steals other people’s work, if that’s what he was trying to do

They told me to call UWS directly. If I can’t get a reply from UWS, I will go back to them as a last resort. I hope they won’t have to deal with it as it wasn’t their screw up

I know the weld looks bad but has it failed yet? Is there any evidence of cracking or that it will fail? The reason I ask is they may not do anything for you unless the weld actually fails but internally they may tighten up QC. I'm not sure how warranty works regarding weld appearances unless it's evident it will fail within the warranty period.

I know I've gotten good service out of my boxes, the interiors remain dry and I open one or the other every single day so they've lasted for me, that's why I have two.

No I honestly have given it a chance to fail, I’ve taken the box off of my truck and have it sitting in my building. I know that bracket won’t ever go anywhere because the weld on the other side should hold, but I don’t like the looks of the weld pictured at all. Being a welder myself, I’ve seen a lot bigger welds break than this. Maybe I’m throwing too big of a fit over it, but with the price I paid, I feel like I deserve a little better workmanship than this

I get what you're saying, but man.. as one who takes pride in their work, I'd never be happy with that thing leaving my shop (I'm not a welder, just sayin). Who knows, maybe they don't pay their guys well these days and that's what you get for it.
If I paid good money for a brand that I thought was a cut above, well I'd be disappointed too.

    **UPDATE**

Finally got hold of someone that would actually give me a response at UWS. He is having another box shipped to my door, no questions asked. Very pleased with the turnout minus having to contact 3 different people. Hopefully this next box will be ship shape and have no more issues. Thank you to everyone for their opinions in this thread

I certainly wouldn't be happy if I paid a premium for that.

Wow, my 15 yr old box is dull but not flaking off. It has spent every single day outside in the elements.

I’ve only gone through the first few posts, but as someone already stated, my junior high learning welds were better than that. That is barely Chinese quality grade there. That’s downright embarrassing for an American product. Especially one with a premium price tag.
