I think I would get a 2nd. opinion. They already messed up once, are they sure that its the coating that is cracked? I wouldn't trust them.

Thanks for giving the update on your situation. Glad the shop handled it correctly. Regardless who did the work dealership or small independent backing or fixing a job not done correctly is a sign of good business practice.

My wife was leaving out this friday for a small 600 mile road trip, beginning of the week she had her oil and filter changed , cabin filter, and coolant topped (checked) So, Thursday morning I did a quick check pulled dip stick, saw oil was like an inch past the full mark, I checked and triple checked, over serviced. checked cabin filter, cabin filter upside down, checked coolant reservoir empty. So, she took it back all I told her was have them pull out some oil, I can easily fix the other items.

The manager took the vehicle in re-did the oil change and filter, checked the coolant I had already flipped the cabin filter. So, in the end all was good. Will I recommend my wife keep using them Heck yeah, they fixed a screw up, and if the customers never tells these businesses where they go wrong they can't get better.
How a vendor handles a Fuax Pau, is probably the most telling.
    Enjoy your trip, Yeee Ha.

Were you honestly able to get a good look at the crack to know it is only the powder coating because it sure doesn't look like it because of the rust around the crack? Pictures can be deceiving, but if you are not mechanically inclined I would have another shop look at it to be sure.

It's fairly normal on Tacoma for the shell around the metal to crack like that, I wouldnt worry about it.

Yep...I saw a video of the powder coat peeling off at the crack, and solid underneath. the coating is pretty thick, so it looked like an actual crack, but it was solid.
I was going to pay for the springs anyway, so they had no reason to be deceitful...this shop gets really good customer reviews too. I guess they never did 5100's before though!

Care to drop the link? This would save me so much time in the garage... especially since this will be my first big install by myself. Lol TYIA
