i hit up a shop in my city and the mechanic accepted but later denied me since the owner was worried about doing the work. i end up calling my mechanic in tijuana who works on my truck all the time and hes likebring it down. i head south and he checked it out and said i dont have to remove the motor and took me to a fabrication shop. as soon as i got in there maybe 20 - 30 trucks were getting worked on, including a mcneil racing truck that raced in the baja 500 last june. he told me it would take half a day to finish and he charges 200 bucks a day, but hed charge me 100.

i left it over night and ill come back tomorrow for it at noon. the owner said he would reinforce it since it looked like i fucked around alot with the truck.
he also told me that if i wanted a rear tubed bumper it woulkd cost me 200 bucks and all i needed was a picture to shop him how i wanted it.

that really seems like a deal to me. I would wait until i inspected his work on the motor mounts before a paid for the rear bumper but i would jump on a 200$ bumper, if it was good quality.

Did this happen when you were going 30mph on the trial in Pine Valley and flew off the road after almost hitting the two Jeeps head on?

You and James should hit the trails sometime. lol

Last time I went south of the border (Baja 1000), I had to walk home after my truck got ripped-off.

It wasn't all bad. I had a 1988 4X4 with 500K miles that wouldn't die. Lucky me I insured it with SCORE-recommended insurance (with theft) and now I'm sport'n a fresh Taco.

update: went to tj, truck was stolen. lies.

truck was fixed!, i took my gfs camera and took pictures but there was no memory card and no cables so im fucked.

anyways, they pulled out the motor mount from the frame, welded a plate over the hole, welded the motor mount on the plate and another plate ontop of the motor mount and on to the bottom of the frame.

100 bucks, they did screw up my alignment which cost another 20 bucks, no big deal.

anyways heres the update, pete mcneil (races in the baja) owns this fab shop in tijuana and his nephews own a fabshop right next door, cool!

A little, I don't really see any difference between the '05s and '06s so I might just reinforce mine anyway. A lot of bad roads over here and I think my wife actually aims for the potholes.

OK, thanks for the heads up. Seems like you took it to a really good shop so I want to see the pics, print them off and tell the guys over here this is how I want the reinforcement done (minus the repair).
