Sorry to the few that were following this. There was really nothing to report. The dealer did take photos of the frame and sent them to Toyota. The photo is my latest reply from Toyota and a copy of my reply. I hope this works and make sense!!!!

So what you are telling me is, I was sold a Toyota Tacoma with a rusting frame by a reputable (?) Toyota dealer and that's ok with you?

You have pictures of the frame with holes in it, taken by the dealer a little over a year after I bought the truck. The frame is only going to get worse with time and in less than two years the truck will be worth nothing and that's ok with you?

so I'll be losing well over $15,000

Very hard to tell from the few not-so-good pictures you posted, but it might not be as bad as you think. Either way, unfortunately all vehicles rust when exposed to that shit they dump on the roads in the salt belt. Only way around it is not drive in the salt, buy another truck every few years, or take preventative measures / undercoating every year

I just stumbled onto these posts.
    Thanks for the follow-up.
That is not a great Toyota experience.

I am curious about the customer experience when you purchased your Tacoma.
Was it part of any Toyota "Pre-owned" program that implies proper operation and inspection?
Certainly, you would not think, even outside of such programs that a Toyota dealership would put such a rotten frame on their lot, or for that matter, take it as a trade-in?

It probably goes without saying, good luck--I hope you can find resolution above the drone that may have answered your inquiry.

Yep. Learning how to weld (or finding a good welder) is time better spent than fighting this with the dealer or Toyota. Goliath usually wins in cases like this.

The photos the dealer took to send to Toyota showed holes in the frame and he even noted ASAP on the email he sent Toyota

Never trust a dealership on a used vehicle purchase. No matter how nice or trustworthy they seem.

I've been posting this everywhere I can on the web. Of course Toyota sites won't let me

On Aug. 8, 2020 I bought a 2009 Toyota Tacoma from Price Toyota in New Castle Delaware. It was my first Toyota ever. Shortly after I bought it I became aware of the frame problem that Toyota had with their trucks. In late Aug or early Sep I asked Price Toyota to check the frame on my truck, they did and told me it only had surface rust. In Nov of 2021 I took it to them again because the frame had become even more rusted. They photographed the frame and sent the pictures to Toyota with a ASAP note attached. Toyota corresponded it's not covered. The frame now has holes where the rust has eaten through it. How does a frame go from surface rust to having rust bad enough to cause holes in it?
I paid over $15,000 for the truck and during the year I added many upgrades to it. I'm giving the truck two more years and it will not be safe to drive. At that point I will lose everything I invested in it.
Price Toyota tells me it Toyota's problem and Toyota thanked me for contacting them but said its now my problem. Price Toyota knew of the frame problem but it was never mentioned when I was buying the truck. My question is how could Price Toyota sell me a truck with a bad frame and consider it my deal, my loss!!!!

    Might start a fire somewhere!!!!
