Just some 35% tint to match the rears and some 285/70/17 Falkens…
I just told them there were multiple threads on this forum of people comlaining and documenting low tranny fluid from the factory who had the tow package, and they're getting hard shifts when cold going from R to D...

I did not have any issues when asking the dealer to check my tranny fluid level. Told him about my symptoms, told him about what I've read, told him what a jerk the service manager was where I bought the truck... Done.
Livermore, Ca Toyota was recommended over Dublin, Ca Toyota which is where we had been taking our Toyotas until they pissed me off last year.
Livermore Toyota has had a few come in with low tranny oil so they are already realizing there is a problem, one came in 3qts low and required Toyota Corp to come in and look at the truck.

There's an old aviation story about a guy that worked on an aircraft assembly line. He was supposed to rivet engine mounts a certain way, but he thought that HIS method was better----so that's what he did. Poor quality control allowed sloppy workmanship to go on, and the planes to make it to the airlines. Eventually some of these planes developed cracks, and crashed. ONE guy working on an assembly line, had ONE job to do---and fucked it up. That's this transmission-fluid-fill-guy at Toyota.

Probably depends how low it is. Those with really low ATF, it might be a good idea. I didn't have any shifting issues AT ALL so I figured if mine was low, it was only a little low.

Just spoke with a service tech from the dealership I purchased truck from and he said that the ATF fluid is checked during Pre Delivery Inspection. I really haven't had any low ATF symptoms, so I'm hoping he is telling the truth. Has anyone else been told ATF is checked during PDI?

Changing the crush washer isn't mandatory. Sure, it's ok to do I guess but won't make a diff either way (see what I did there? Make a "diff"???)

Nothing wrong with that! I think it's more of an occasional thing as opposed to every time you change a fluid.
My old 2006 went 60k and many different fluid changes with the same washers.
That being said, I got a bunch for my 2016 and will change them more often. Easy to do and it's cheap.

I have a deposit down on a taco in CO that I'm going to pickup in 2 weeks. I told them about this issue I've seen pop up and I requested they check my ATF level; they gave zero fuss and sent it right it!! They sent me the service report printout, was 3/4 quart low!! Glad I didn't drive 1,100 miles home like that! This is rediculous that toyota missed this big of an F-up

Any chance you have a build date on your truck and what factory it was built at ?

    Guys,

So much information about this topic so I'm looking for a little guidance on what I need to take with me to the dealership tomorrow for my appointment. My Tacoma has 150 miles on it now and has a delay from R to D, when cold...at least 2-3 seconds before D is engaged. Well, this morning when I left the house the R to D was immediately followed with me pressing on the gas pedal and the transmission slipped as the RPMs increased with the truck barely moving. I immediately let off of the gas pedal and the transmission settled in D. Transmission function seems to be all normal when warm. The R to D delay only occurs in the morning after sitting all night.

Anyways, I made an appointment with my local dealer after the incident this morning. When I called to explain what is occurring to the advisor, he said this is the first time he has heard of any transmission complaints on the 2016. Not a good sign for me.

Those that have been successful in getting your transmission checked properly, what do I need to explain in detail and/or take with me so this is taken care of tomorrow?

    Thanks TW!

Good luck... I tried to explain to the dumb f's, but to no avail... they will check it "if" I pay.... they can go to hell... I'll do it myself...!

Hope your dealer is "more enlightened"....

Took my truck to mechanic friend today and he was surprised to find both my front and rear diff's were low...rear was a quart and a half low.

Ggrrrr - dealer said it was checked.

BTW seems like the worst thing you can do is mention "the forums" as a source of information to the dealers. They tend to scoff at this immediately and become dismissive in my experience and based on others' reports here.
