Smitty... did you notice the work order... it says..."checked fluid level as per TIS instructions"...!! WTF does that mean..?? a computer check, maybe...?? I'd go back and ask what that means in real English...

On the positive side....you DID get a free floor mat inspection...!! I gotta get me one of those...do they wash it or just "inspect" it..?? hehe

    Good luck...

Just some 35% tint to match the rears and some 285/70/17 Falkens…
Like I said, I definitely noticed a difference in the way it shifts after they added fluid. That being said, no more auto transmissions for me ever again. Manual 6 it is from here on in...

had my 2016 trd sport dbl cab long bed with tow package checked on 3/10/16 by advantage Toyota in long island , ny. it was done no charge.the result was just shy of 1 quart low.the service manager was fine with checking checking, but the tech drove it first ,then said all felt normal and did I still want them to check it.isaid yes and 5 hours later was told it was just shy of one quart but it was now all set to go.waiting 5 hours sucks but now on to other matters. grease and tail gate gaps. still a nice truck.

Then that would be a computer hook-up... and NOT a real tranny fluid check, right..??

MY "diagnostic system" is to get under there and do the damn fluid check...!!!! Properly..!!

It's their online service manual/diagnostic tool... He got the instructions off TIS to check the trans fluid... It's the tech covering his own ass by putting that into his notes... It's a warranty thing...

I don't know what they actually did because I didn't physically sit there and watch them. I simply don't have time for that and I didn't want to wait around with my vehicle overnight which is why I played my cards and offered to pay for the service if they found the level to be OK.

Who did you talk to at Livermore? I took mine in a few weeks ago for the 10k service and asked them to check it. They said they did check it and everything was good. When I got home I got under the truck and couldn't see any signs of either the fill or check plug being removed and no staining on the case from dripping trans fluid so I don't think they every checked it. I'm planning on marking the plugs with some torque seal before next time and asking if they will check it again. Please let me know what they say about yours.

Just checking in. Same story here. Quart low. Talked them into checking it while I was getting my hood vibe issue repaired.

Absolutely. I spoke with Marshall, super nice guy. I will make sure that I tell him that I will know if they don't check it, lol.....
I don't think they would do that since I am taking it in for a specific tranny issue.

    Thanks 08sprsnke.

For those of you who had the dealership find low fluid, can you see any marks on the plugs or staining on the case from trans fluid dripping out?

I got an appointment at 930am tomorrow to have it checked. I am dropping the truck at the dealership later tonight so its cool in the morning to check. I am going to mark both plugs so I can verify they check it.

I just got my DCLB TRD OR with tow on Wednesday and I am already noticing the hard shift and hesitation going from R to D. I guess I am going to have to schedule an apt with a dealer to get it checked. The tough part is that I bought it from a dealer 250 miles away...so I am going to have to figure out who I want to go to locally.

Just booked mine for the 5k service. Asked the writer to be sure they check the tranny fluid. He first tells me it's not 50k, and then tells me it's a sealed unit using WS. I insisted that there is a method and that I'm experiencing some issues and it's a concern. He went ahead and wrote it up, but I could tell he wasn't pleased. Goes in in 2 weeks so we'll see. Thankfully, no major problems to speak of.

And dont forget to add your vote to the poll . Its the closest thing we have to a petition at Tacoma Word .
I highly suggest you guys start fighting Toyota for lifetime warranty at the very minimum .
Who knows what kind of damage will be done driving around with low fluid like this
Its not your fault the transmission is low . This is all on Toyota 100 %

"Wasn't Pleased"? What kind of shit is that? Hey, can you do your job... pisses them off?

I'm taking mine tomorrow for the 5k check, I asked for the following to be done.. And he said
he noted on the paperwork everything I stated. I also mentioned the vibe issue, he said that and
everything below is the first he'd heard of any of it.

    1. 5k Multi Point checkup

    2. Oil Change - Synthetic 0w20- I mentioned I'm only @ 3200 miles, he said that doesn't matter, they're YOUR free oil changes, uses them when you like.

    3. Torque Leaf Spring U-Bolts to Specs

    4. Check ALL U-Joint zerks - Every owner that had them checked by service found them DRY

    5. Confirm ATF fluid is at the proper level

    6. Differential fluid check

    7. Is it possible to have the blinker-tap rate set to 6 blinks as opposed to the default 3?

Thanks for posting. While I was in Lemoore, I took my truck to Visalia Toyota but they never checked the fluid like I asked. Service writer says they did, but I call BS and it doesn't say it on the work order. Hanford Toyota is closer, but wouldn't check the fluid level for me. Fast forward, back to the Bay Area, I dropped my truck off this morning to Fremont and think they'll take a closer look into it since there was already a case made at Visalia. If they still don't check the fluid level, I'll make a trip to Livermore.
