If you are thinking about going Lemon Law keep great records first and foremost. Read up on your state's Lemon Laws. Know what is required to get it classified as a Lemon. The dealer is not your friend once you start the Lemon Law conversation so don't look to them for advice and counsel. If you talk to Corporate know that each and every word you speak is recorded. It is not for quality assurance but rather to catch you saying something they can use against you later if you try to sue them. Also, know that a dealer does not have to technically work on your car for it to be a failed work/repair attempt. Some dealers will try to get around the failed repair attempt by saying your problem "is a normal characteristic of the vehicle" or words to that effect and send you home after the first try. When you go back they may say "we told you we cannot do anything for you". Ask for a work order documenting you were there. Get someone to sign it. If they won't give it to you then whip out your phone and get a selfie with you and the service manager and go home and do a report of contact. Finally, know that each and every word you write is discoverable. Therefore, if you post on social media don't post one thing you wouldn't say in court in front of a judge because rest assured it will be there.

It is my hope that Toyota takes care of your issues. Many people on here have had some issues but it does seem that slowly but surely most all of them are getting resolved except for those howling rear diffs. Fingers crossed a fix gets here soon. Best of luck to you.

out of pure curiosity, do you have to continue to make payments on the truck if they ground it and won't let you take it till it's fixed?

I called Toyota finance and they explained to me that if the vehicle cannot be fixed that that would be considered a special exemption and I would probably be able to terminate the agreement. But if the vehicle can be fixed and I still decide to turn it back in the woman on the phone use the words and terminology of "voluntary reposs
ession". All full payments are still in effect.

No prorated payments or anything of the sort

I believe that is in reference to the guy that had a Howling Rear Diff that was replaced at the dealer and that fixed it.

OK. I thought this was the guy that also had his 2.7 engine go down. My bad...

I'm thinking maybe he got his truck fixed and lived happily ever after. That would be great - happy endings are always cool to me! LOL. As far as OP here and lots of others, I'm thinking Toyota is going to get this ironed out. Slowly but surely a lot of these issues are getting resolved. I may be wrong but I'm hopeful the rear diff issue gets worked out sooner than later.

I kind of did too but apparently this guy had a block or something. Heck, anything mechanical can break. I can't recall exactly what it was but it went down with less than 500 miles. To Toyota's credit, they fixed it and fixed it right. I'm hoping the guy is happy now. I haven't heard from him but swear this OP reminded me a lot of him.

Pure mutiny. LOL. I have no complaints about my 3.5 and I'm used to my tranny. She's quirky but growing on me daily. I do need the howling diff fixed though and like so many others, I'm waiting for that fix.

    Update.

So they agreed to switch out vehicles. Amazing! Upon receipt of the new vehicle, noticeable BIG difference in acceleration and responsiveness. Same color ( magnetic grey)and everything.

You guys might think I'm crazy.. but I now have 429 miles on this new one. I'm pretty sure I can hear a faint whine starting again...

Not really sure what to say about that. But I read on the forums someone test drove a line of them at the dealer and they ALL do that.

I'm tempted to drain the fluid myself and put Mobil 1 or Redline in.

I don't do any crazy driving or " break in" procedures. I have about a 60 mile commute to and from work on roads and the interstate.
