Yes it sounds VERY similar to LCA howl but I plugged those holes long ago and the tech already isolated mine to the rear diff. I would ask your dealer if they can put it on the lift and listen to the rear end to replicate the sound. My tech used a stethoscope to hear it inside the diff.

Y'all were supposed to tell me "No, that doesn't sound anything like the sound we heard before our differentials were replaced!" Not the answer I was hoping for...

Several of us have had our diffs replaced and we have the sound now starting to come back... Toyota is going to be all over this one because it's going to get VERY costly very quickly.

Definitely the right sound! Might be worth getting it documented and holding off for a bit to see if Toyota comes up with a solution, as simply replacing doesn't seem to solve anything.

My second diff had the noise as soon as I picked it up. First thing I did was get it up to 55mph and was disappointed to say the least!

Sure did! They had the truck two weeks and the noise is no better than it was when I dropped it off. Should have just kept the original diff!

The most notable thing of all this is that in their replacing the differential they are acknowledging that the noise is something that is not right. They acknowledge there is an issue here yet replacing the differential is not fixing it. How at this point they could ever back pedal and say now the noise is normal is beyond me

I have the woo, only issue thus far, but none the less being the differential it's concerning and not confidence inspiring to say the least in keeping this truck long term. Spoke with service advisor about it, waiting to see the solution since replacing it is clearly not the solution.

I changed the diff oil and, as Zeppelin said, the song remains the same.

I had mine checked at about 10k and the tech said it had a "normal diff whine". I told
the tech that it is common, not normal. Normal implies that the designer intended the system characteristic. I then asked him if a diff whine was an actual requirement?

    Didn't think so.

Toyota has lost what it means to have respect for and not trouble the customer. Truly sad for a company who invented the concept.

If you'd all just stop fixing the LCA noise, you wouldn't be hearing the rear diff noise. Two problems solved by simply doing nothing!
