I am planning to upgrade my stock rotors/pads and considering using a kit from Power Stop rotor kit that include a drilled/slotted rotor and matching pads. The Power Stop website indicates two options available for the Z36 kit (truck & tow) that works with 6-lug wheels: With "VDC" that includes a 318.5 mm rotor or without "VDC" that includes a 296.8 mm rotor. I did not know I had a VDC option for my Tacoma. Support from Power Stop was no help, so can someone shed some light on this here in the forum?

It's actually VSC (Vehicle Stability Control). "most" 1st Gen Tacomas did not have it but some did as an option. The easiest way to tell is bust out the tape measure and check the ones you have on now.

Another option you may want to consider (depending on how much you tow) is the "Tundra brake upgrade" (do a search in 1st Gen forums) which give you larger rotors, brake pads and caliper all while being bolt-on with minor shield trimming. drilled and slotted do expend heat but are not really that necessary unless you plan to brake a lot, or ride them. A good quality/OEM rotor and pad will be a good option.
