Upgrade Intake and Exhaust

    Hey all,
    I have a 99 xtra cab tacoma 4x4 v6 sr5. Still factory and runs great. I have recently been thinking about upgrading the exhaust and intake to help it "breathe" easier due to towing a boat and other heavy accessories. It only has 90k miles on it. I don't want exhaust/intake that just sounds loud, but rather a unit that will actually improve the trucks performance. Any ideas or testimonies on what's available?

    In the past, I have seen/had good results with a Deck Plate installed on the front of the air box near the grill. Its a $10.00 mod, and Ive seen 5 h.p. to the wheel gains. Factory filter seems to flow well and filter fine. For the exhaust, a good set of headers, a good muffler ( Dynomax super turbo is a good quiet one), should do you well. :)

    ^ yup, what he said. The deckplate mod is a cheap and easy mod to get more air.

    The haeders are made by a company other than dynomax. TRD has some out for your motor, and some other makers. :)

    i haven't seen any posts re: the "DECK PLATE MOD" from ppl with a 2.7L motor. anyone have the 2.7L that has done this? I'm thinking about it for my 04 4x4. Results???

    I installed a K&N Series 77 cold air intake as well as a magnaflow exhaust system and I gained about 15 hp, better acceleration, and about 4 more mpg
