Upgrade Options for Non-JBL

I have the KS in my truck and my wife’s car so I won’t try and talk you out of them lol. I’d categorize them above “fine” but below “great” but that’s right where the price-point puts them. I’ve heard and installed lots of speakers from crap pioneer g-series all the way to focal flax and K2’s and my ears are perfectly happy with the KS line. Between kids and daycare and house and vacations and all the other stuff in life, car stereo just wasn’t where I wanted to prioritize in our budget. If you’ve got the money and want to spend it, I’m all for it! We all have different priorities so you just pick yours!

I would say the references are great speakers if not for that high end that feels (to me) like sonic ice picks to the ear. I can see how someone else might like those speakers but I found them to be traumatizing.

The other important bit of advice worth sharing here is to save all your original packaging until your sure you like what you got, doing an exchange would have been basically impossible had I not saved the original boxes and packaging.
