Thats how I do it :) If you have a test light its easy, (power, switched power, ground) theres only three wires you need + speakers if you're not running an aftermarket amp. I leave the stock connector there with enough wire to re attach though in case I ever wanted to go back.

Your splicing into it, but this po cut off all of the connecters, or most of it.

You just need to connect the radio harness to the adapter harness then plug it into your truck....

DIN = Deutsche Industri Normen , DIN refers to size 2″ x 8″ opening that a radio fits into. Germany was the first it to standardize the radio's in Audi's, BMW's in the 80's. It has since become the industry standard. DOUBLE DIN is the same width of 8″ but is 4″ instead of 2″. it is especially the Height that refers to DIN. In racks you will find predrilled holes at DIN height, so that material can easily be mounted. I could go on about DIN and show that display makers are not liking DIN for racks and make the link to the Golden Ratio but that is not a concern for Tacoma's

Some CB radios fit perfectly where the ashtray goes. I don’t smoke and never will so the ashtray was useless.

I know, I'm old I pay with cash. One time I went camping with the cash in my ashtray. Had over 200.00 in cash in there. Hell , right now there's like 110 bucks in there..those 5's and 10's add up quick.

It doesn’t. Friction holds it in fine.

I’ll be honest I’ve never used it before. I could never get the SWR down on the antenna I was using so I never used it. Sometimes I can hear conversations but that was very rare. I only use it for the PA feature.

Actually you’re right I used to store change in there, but I always pay with card and I have FasTrak for the tolls so I rarely use cash.
