    Hey so first post here

    I have a 2014 trd sport
I got it because it was a good deal and it was certified used
About a month after I realized I would have rather just paid the extra money for a new car that I built up
This is my first car and I want it to be my baby
So my question is do you think it's worth it to just modify my current 2014 sport
Or should I get the new 2017 offroad go from there
I'll probably be paying around 10k to do so
So does it make sense to that or to just modify my current truck. Thanks in advance

Welcome! Can't answer if you should upgrade or not but it sure feels good not having a truck payment.

Keep it, I traded my 15 for a 16 and regret it. Wait till Toyota works out the bugs.

Personally I would modify the 2014 that you have.
However, it's your money and your truck so why not go test drive a 2017 and see what you think. If you prefer it over your 14 and can afford the cost then go for it.

Hopefully, the 2017 will have the bugs fixed (never buy the first year of a new model)!
The Off Road includes A-TRAC/Multi-Terrain/Crawl/ and turns the truck into a tank that seems unstoppable. A rear locker is also included, along with the Bilstein off road shocks and a flat hood for better visibility off roading steep climbs.

After buying a 2013 and finding this site, I'm waiting on the 2018 model at least.

I traded my 09 TRD Sport for a 17 TRD Off Road 4 weeks ago. I've got about 700 miles on it and love it so far. I went back and forth for a really long time before pulling the trigger. The odd transmission shifting is a legit gripe but I've gotten used to it already. No vibrations or rear end noises like some others have experienced.

I would mod the 14'. I test drove the new one and didn't like the lack of torque taking off.

Definitely a different power band in the new motor. I actually like the way it revs but yes it lacks low end torque.

I've driven myself crazy thinking about this. I ended up buying a new (2015) tacoma last year instead of fixing up my old truck but my old one was a 2001 4runner with almost 200k miles. I'm very happy with this, my first tacoma, and the mods I'm able to make. If you've got a nice, fairly new truck already my inclination would be to keep it and build it up. I too like the a Trac etc that is available and I had that stuff on my 2012 FJ. My 4wd Tacoma only has the limited slip but I wonder if getting locking differentials would be better or as good as the a trac systems. I haven't taken the time to research it so maybe someone else has info about that. With what you spend on a new one you could get your 2014 all decked out and still have a fairly new truck. I like our generation tacoma. The new ones...eh whatever. :)
