I got mine from a local guy who wrecked his truck but it didn't have anything to do with the brake components.

Since we are reviving this long dead thread.....I just did a tundra upgrade on my 2004 V6 4x4. I used the "WE" casting calipers from a 2001 Tundra 4x4 v8 4.7. All parts bought from O'Reilly, two new calipers, new pads, two new rotors. One of the first two calipers they pulled out were missing the little wires and pins for holding the pads in place. They happily ordered a different caliper and got all the parts for me. The banjo bolt needed the end drilled only slightly to clear the nipple in the bottom of the new caliper hole. Took about 3 hours total from parking to driving off again. Old brakes were in great condition, but new brakes are MUCH better.

Napa has rebuilt calipers. Model number is 13WL for the largest 210mm rotors I think. Then get matching discs.
I bought those and the braided hoses from wheelers offroad. They come with the banjo bolt and all the seals. These are a lifesaver and make the job a lot easier. Worth every penny and highly suggeted.

There were no clearance issues with my stock taco 16s so no need to mess with wheels I think. Clearances are minimal but I haven't had anything make contact.

I got 285s 10ply grabber AT2s which are monstrouly heavy and the braking performance is good. I mean...they work well. They don't warp rotors. The deal with stock rims. I'd say pretty good diy project. At the end of the day I think I blew 400 on parts and labor was 3 hours. For which I charged myself, nothing.

    Do it

The WL's are 231mm Calipers. Read Post 58.

The holes and slots are to prevent gases from building up between the rotor and pad. The holes improve cooling and allow water to go through.

On our trucks it's not a big deal. High performance brakes use these for a reason though.

Everyone I have talked to has recommended moving forward with the mod. Seems pretty straight forward, just waiting for a tundra or sequoia to roll into the local junkyard.

It's an awesome mod, I'm going to have swap out the master cylinder for a 01-04 one tho. Not a fan of spongy brakes

Awww it's spungy! I'll have to get a master cylinder then too when I do it. I was wandering if I was gonna have to switch that. I use the Castro synthetic fluid it's pretty good. It has Never over heated on me. I live in a super hilly area and almost everything else not synthetic overheats. Since your changing the master I suggest using that fluid when you do

Hmm you shouldn't have spongy brakes then. You already have the better cylinder

Was curious where you got the black coated calipers for your Tacoma? Or did you have to get them coated? Thanks!

The NAPA ones come coated black but some of the hardware is not coated and it has rusted since. But the caliper has no rust and has been working flawless

It adds about a 1/2 inch of extra travel to the amount of pedal needed. Mine aren't spongy at all. You just have to push the pedal a little farther.

You won't be overheating the fluid anymore once you upgrade.
