I upgraded my 2nd Gen to the larger OEM GX460/ T4R setup when I had to replace stuck calipers. Didn't cost any more than stock, except for new dust shields. The (bReAkS ) felt better than I remembered after... That is my story and I'm sticking with it

OP makes no mention of towing. Or running massively-oversized tires. Or hauling significant amounts of weight. Or driving on the track.

In the absence of the above, if the OP can trigger ABS by standing on the brake pedal, there there isn't going to be "shortening" of stopping distances by changing hardware.

I can't speak for OP, but I replaced the OEM rotors and pads due to warping. Sure, I could lock the brakes up, but clearly the rotors were not capable of handling the heat load. I've had zero issues since...

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Then you're using your brakes too much. I get the panic stop situation but the others have work-arounds.

OP stated that they wanted shorter braking distances.

Yes, but the conversation has progressed to "the OEM brakes are sufficient", which based on my experience, I disagree with...

wow, I have towed a travel trailer thousands of miles through the Rocky Mountains and Cascades with absolutely no problem with the stock brakes in my '18 Tacoma. When I see a car or truck descending a pass with stinky, smoking brakes I cringe at the drivers lack of ability. I have had the same good performance in the two Tundras that preceded my current Tacoma.

The brake bro's will be triggered, but stopping quicker is best achieved with better tires.

and because that video triggered the brake bro's he made this second video

heavy brake wear on mountain passes can be mitigated with S-mode, use higher RPMs to slow your descent and put a little less friction on the brakes.

You guys should see how my dad drives his 4Runners. He is constantly fucking with the shifter like it’s a manual. It’s very entertaining to watch haha.

He says that’s how AT should be driven. :)

Brakes are cheaper than a transmission...

I definitely use engine braking, but there's a limit. Dropping into Death Valley, it wasn't enough.
