I can only assume this means that the manual won't even be an option with the next gen Frontier, which would suck. Seems increasingly likely that the next gen Tacoma will follow this trend

Think of how much more we'd complain about shifting with 3 more gears!

I'm ok with my 6 speed auto though. She and I communicate very nicely hehe

F150 has a 10 speed. It’s a lot smoother and doesn’t shift as erratic as my taco does. Highlander has an 8 speed and that thing is smooth as butter.

Looks like the Tacoma is the only 3-pedal mid size truck now.

The 3.8L and 9spd will be available in the current truck for 2020 only. The 2021 is a new truck for USA/Canada only and not a Navara, it is largely based on the current platform.

I own a '10 Pro-4x 4.0L 6spd KCLB now, I'm pretty interested on the '20. I've been thinking about buying a '14+ Pro-4x CCSB for a few years. Would be pretty neat to own the final model year with the new drivetrain and push button start. Will definitely test drive one and maybe even lease it. That way the 2021+ will have time to mature before I decide if I like it or not.

Can't more strongly disagree. My work truck is a 2018 10 speed auto F150 with the 5.0 v8. Never met an upshift it didn't like. It's trying to run in 8th gear at 35 mph's, and it saps the v8's power. IMO the Taco shifts way smoother and doesn't feel like it's perpetually 2 gears higher than it should be.

The Gladiator also. Hope Nissan brings it back for 2021+. That said all I've really heard is the 2.5L and 5spd won't be available anymore. They haven't specifically mentioned the 6spd manual yet.

Nothing wrong with it still being an old platform IMO. You still eat Mac and Cheese and it's been out for probably over a 100 years.. still awesome.

And just because the rest of the world gets the ugly Navarra doesn't mean we should. Many modern redesigns have proven to be less enticing as manufacturers find ways of cutting costs, using thinner materials, more plastics, more non-serviceable components, etc.

Be careful what you ask for!

The Navarra is about one million times better looking than the Frontier. If what I've seen of the rumored redesign is true, it will be an upgrade. An upgrade that should have come around 2013, but an upgrade.

Yeah, that's not a frontier. That's the Titan Warrior Concept. Courtesy of my friend Dave.

    A few.
Cant really argue with there sales numbers. The Frontier has continued yo sell pretty well and has been a cash cow for Nissian considering how old the current design is similiar to the Tundra.

"The 2020 Nissan Frontier gets a new 3.8-liter V-6 engine with 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque." An all-new 2021 Frontier is coming soon with this engine, as Nissan says it will arrive next year.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/aut...the-same-old-truck/ar-BBZHulz?ocid=spartandhp

Personally I think Toyota reliability still wins this battle, but Toyota needs to bump up their HP numbers with their next engine upgrade. Toyota needs at least 300 HP without losing reliability.

Why? Owned one years ago, there's a reason they are not #1.
