FlowMaster 80 Series Cross-Flow Oval Black Exhaust muffler, i have more plans for the future
I Recently got my grandfathers 2013 Tacoma Extended cab with around 13,000 miles on the odometer, he only drives it to his local golf course and back. but thats going to change as i drive 30,000 miles a year. it has the slow 2.7 4 cylinder that produces somewhere around 160 horsepower, it is 2wd, sadly, and it is a automatic, sadly. But i would like to still upgrade my truck. i would like to put 3rd gen tacoma rims on it like the truck i put below. i'm considering a "flomaster 80 series cross flow oval black exaust muffler" to install on my truck to get some extra horsepower gains and have a more aggressive exhaust tone. and probably a rollbar for the bed. but if anyone has any tips on horsepower gains, please let me know so i can have a speedy truck!

Is your rig a prerunner with the 5 lug wheels?

Congratulations on the truck! Looks and sounds like it's in great shape. It'll last you forver. It's maybe not exactly as you'd personally order it. But it's your grandfather's truck. That to me makes it priceless. I can only imagine how happy he is that you got it.
There's not much that you can do to make big horsepower gains unfortunately. But it'll last you forever and give you decent mileage along the way.
There's a lot if threads here from 2.7 owners. They all seem to be very happy with them.

Anyway. Congrates again, and welcome to Tacoma World!!!

Hey Jerry, those two things are mutually exclusive. Prerunner was 6 lug, just like the 4X4.

OP, I’ve got the identical truck in black, but mine’s about to turn 95,000 miles, and it still brings a smile to my face every time I look at it. While it’s not quick off the line, it’ll run all day at 75-80 mph. From what I know, there’s not a lot you can do increase hp unless you’re willing to spend a lot of money. Check out the 4 cyl. forum. A guy named Tooter did a lot of work on the 2.7.

You need to be aware that everything you put on the truck weight-wise hurts the performance. My personal motto is “function over form.” The only thing I added simply for looks were the TRD Off-Road wheels that I bought from another member. A guy’s gotta have a little bling in his life.

The truck in your picture is a 6 lug which means its a V6 not a 4 cyl.
It also has the fender flares 4 cyls don’t have.

Pop the hood of the truck and see what your engine cover has on it.

I think your first mods need to be removing the steps and the rain guards lol.

Say what? I have a 2014 SR5 4-cyl 6-lug with fender flares purchased brand new. There were several others in different colors on the lot at the same time as well.

To the OP, the 4cyl trucks are just reliable transportation from point A to point B. It will never be speedy and a Flowmaster will make it sound like a weed wacker. Exhaust, header, and intake will cost considerable money but only going make a small improvement in power. It will still be a sub-200 HP engine.

I was under the impression no 4cyls came in 5 lug.
    I guess that was wrong.

Why make a 5 lug and then a 6 lug version? Why not make them all 6 lug?
Sounds expensive to make both versions vs 1.

Did you mean you were under the impression that no 4 cylinders came in 6 lug? All 5 lugs were 4 cylinders...except for the X-Runner. When the 3rd gen come out they did away with the 5 lug truck. All Tacoma’s are now 6 lug.

Thank you for the advice, i just wish my grandpa got 4.0 V6 instead, but as a daily driver, i think it will be okay without and upgrades in performance as much as i wish i could upgrade in performance. its just going to rack up miles like mad and thats really my only concern

The first picture you you posted has 6 lug wheels on it from the 2nd gen trd off road models. They are impossible to fit onto a 5-lug .... hence the confusion.

It was your Granpa's Tacoma. Never get rid of it no matter what or you'll hate yourself right afterwards.
