Straight up newbie here. I'm looking to buy a TRD Sport from 2017-2019. I wanted the TRD Off-Road for the rear locker, but my country doesn't offer that trim.

So, I'll get the Sport. I've read and watched videos about installing a rear locker.

My plan for the truck includes a small lift, 35" tires, a winch, a roof rack, and other mods. It will be used for camping at the beach, towing a couple of 4-wheelers, and going on trails.

I'd like advice on how to plan my build. I'll be on a budget and will build it in phases.

    Any advice would be awesome.

    Thanks!

I have a pretty much stock 2021 Sport. If you're going rock crawling or some serious off-roading then a rear locker might be called for. If you are just hitting the trails you will probably be happy with the truck as is.

You said a small lift so I don't understand the need for 35" tires. I have a small lift and 32" 275/70 R17 is good for me.
I'd up grade tires first for sure though and sell oem ones.
Also I wouldn't spend the big money on a winch if you're only going on trails.
For sure wouldn't get a rear locker.

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
I’d just get 1” bigger tires and then start off-roading at some easier trails to start off with. Rock sliders and skid plates aren’t a bad idea either. You’ll soon discover that a stock truck is pretty capable.

Here is my truck with just 265/70R17 tires and rock sliders
