Interested in improving the side visibility of my truck with some additional lighting.

Has anyone ever added side mirrors with markers/turn signal lights to their 2nd gen? According to the Toyota tech I spoke with this is utterly impossible (I'm doubting that).

Open to other ideas for improvement here as well.

    Thanks!

keep asking questions. I did this a couple years ago. i used sport side mirrors to my off road. simple but take your time. it was a weekend job but several months of research.

wired by tapping into the signal wires bundle under and at the base of the steering column and running a ground wire to a metal part. hardest part was running the wire from the mirrors through the rubber boot and to the tap. used a wire coat hanger as a rod to guide it through.

    good luck

You don’t really need to purchase new mirrors, the ones on the truck already have the slots built into them for the lights. The black cover over the mirror pops off, if you move the glass to one side you will see the snaps that you can move with a screwdriver and once you get one to pop the others will follow.
The light units are available in salvage yards as they were used in RAV4 2010 and up, sienna and highlanders. Also available on eBay out of Hong Kong cheaper then the dealer but with Toyota packaging. Covers with cutouts for the lights are available from the dealer already matched to your truck Colour.
Hard part is running the extra wires through the mirror assembly and if you are lucky the connection in the door is already wired for the signals, my 2015 was.
